CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

Skinny150, it's very interesting to see it in the original box, as far as I can tell that's my rifle exactly. Thanks for the info on ignition. Is your barrel stamped stamped the same as mine? BLACK POWDER ONLY JUKAR 000000 SPAIN Zimmerstutzen, I went to the Ardesa web site and they...

CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

The only holes in the drum are for the cleanout screw and nipple. That's it. I've looked at it under every light, poured water in it to see if it ran out, blew air through it, there's just no hole in it. I've ordered a replacement and will report on the results. Thanks,

CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

Frontiergander, that's what I thought, that the powder drum was not right. You called it a bolster, we're talking about the same thing right, the part that the nipple screws into, and then those two get screwed into the breech plug? I can't tell if the breech plug you're showing is exactly...

CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

Yes, did that yesterday, put a light by the slot (breech end with powder drum removed) and light shows at muzzle.

CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

Frontiergander, I tried that, no hissing. I poured a bit of soapy water down the barrel and the only place it ran out was around the mating surface between the powder drum and barrel, and powder drum and nipple. I highlighted the areas in red below. I would expect it should run out the nipple...

CVA Traditions Kentucky Rifle / Jukar Spain questions

Purchased what I believe is a 45 cal CVA Traditions Kentucky rifle, price was too low to pass up. It appears to be built from a kit, the assembly seems to be pretty good at least as good as I could have done. And it appears unfired. I checked to make sure it was not loaded, then I fired just...

    Leftover washer Win 94 Ranger

Well, I installed it on the right-hand side of the assembly as that looked most correct from the picture and from the parts. The movement of the lever seems correct; smooth and consistent, without binding. I'm sure it will go Bang in a good way. Thanks again.

    Leftover washer Win 94 Ranger

That must be it, although when I look at a close-up of the part from MWG it looks oval, and mine is round. Also, I don't know how it came to be inside the receiver, as I took off the finger lever when it was laying on the bench. Unless I picked up the parts after taking it apart, and it fell...

    Leftover washer Win 94 Ranger

I need some help finding a home for a leftover washer. I finished a take-down and clean on my late father-in-law's Winchester 94 Ranger (5622xxx). Everything went well except for the leftover washer (?) It is a lock washer; it has 3 or 4 "dimples" on the flat surface. It was stuck in the...

DIY Pro Chrono USB Digital Interface: Complete Instructions

The software by Competition Electronics is not very good IMO; you could probably do much better. For example, you can't see more than one string at a time, you can't download more than one string at a time, each time you change to a new string you have to click "Get Velocities" and "Get...

    M1 Garand newbie questions

Anniston AL is 1800 miles round-trip, Port Clinton OH is 1000 miles round-trip. Even in my Prius at 50 MPG and $4.00/gal that's $144 or $80 just in fuel cost. Throw in Subway sandwiches, a few hotel rooms, a thermos of coffee, a 12 pack of Bud (on the conservative side), and pretty soon I'm out...

    M1 Garand newbie questions

Quick update: CMP called me back today. They are sending me a prepaid FedEx return label, they assured me they will make it right either by fixing the rifle or replacing it. So far so good from CMP. Will update when it's all done.

    M1 Garand newbie questions

Yes, with front & rear sights at centerline POI was 3 inches right at 25 yards. I know, it seems like a lot. I'll contact CMP and see what they have to say; I'll post their response here. Thanks to all so far!

    M1 Garand newbie questions

Yes these are Garand-safe loads. Yes I am adjusting the sights correctly. With the front and rear sights both at centerline, POI was 3 inches right. So I drifted the front sight to the right as far as you see it (move front sight in opposite direction of desired POI). The POI was still...

    M1 Garand newbie questions

CMP came through for me with my first service rifle purchase: M1 Garand HRA service grade, 5,59xxxx serial number series. I've been to the range a few times and have generated a few questions that I hope you can help me with. For the record: Hand loads 46.5gr IMR4895, WLR primer, commercial...

What rifle would be used by WWII soldier European theater?

Thanks for your comments. From what you've all said, and from my limited knowledge of his service, it seems he most likely carried a Garand. He didn't talk much about his service, in fact it wasn't until I was in my early twenties that I had a long talk with my mom and realized that his frequent...

What rifle would be used by WWII soldier European theater?

My dad was in the 83rd Thunderbolt Division, I think company C but am not sure. He served in France and Belgium from Oct 1944 until after the war's end. He was an infantry soldier, so I believe he would have carried an M1 Garand, Winchester or Springfield Armory. Does this sound right? Was there...

Ruger P89DC loads first round with mag insertion

Okay there's a consensus; not a problem don't worry about it. I can live with that. @TLH, I guess my use of the word "hard" may be a slight exaggeration, but your point is well taken. This gun is so rugged I don't even think twice about firmly loading the mag. @hAkron, "...logically my ext...
