    NEW Hunting Semi-Autos?

Auto-5 production moved from Belgium to Japan in the 70’s. It was finally discontinued around 1998. The A5 in current production is inertia operated, just like Benelli, not long-recoil like the Auto-5 was. “I've never used a gas operated shotgun but have heard bad things.” Inertia and gas...

    NEW Hunting Semi-Autos?

I have a FABARM L4S and I highly recommend it. Also have a Browning Silver and a Maxus, no complaints at all with them. I have a Winchester SX3 which has been a great gun. The Maxus has morphed into the Maxus II and the SX3 into the SX4. I really like Beretta and have owned a 390 and an...

My quest to find a good youth shotgun…

My kids were started on a SA-08 Compact 20 gauge and a SX3 Compact Field 20 gauge. The Weatherby is an older model with wood furniture and weighs more than the synthetic SA-08 compacts which came later. The SX3 is also wood and on the heavy side which I believe is good. My kids were 10 and 11...

    Bushnell Scope Trouble

All I have are MeoPro 3.5-10s so the only I can do is regurgitate what I’ve read on the net. Mine were purchased from Doug. I’ve never seen any Meopta product in a store other than the Cabela’s branded Meoptas.

    Bushnell Scope Trouble

I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 I bought new in 2010, it’s been mounted on a 700 ADL the whole time. When it bought it I thought the glass was very good and I still think it’s good for shooting game out to 300 yards. Which is as far as I shoot. My understanding is that Burris puts out...

    Carlson barrel for Benelli Nova

Carlson is an outstanding company in my opinion and experience. Their products are excellent and so is their customer service.

Stoeger Condor Field 12 Gauge Over Under Shotgun 28in

I’d take a chance on a Turkish made O/U. No way I’d buy one made in Brazil.

    scope recommendations under $200

There are online dealers that are above reproach such as Camera Land. Then there companies such as Optics Planet that are unethical. Optics Planet has a well deserved bad reputation, I’ve experienced it firsthand. You can find bad juju about Optics Planet all over the net.

    scope recommendations under $200

Savage 110’s have two different bases, one set for the AccuTrigger and a different set for the Pre-AccuTrigger. The front mount is the same, the rear mount is different. As an FYI, the AccuTrigger 10/100, Ruger American and Remington 783 and Axis II all use the same two piece bases. I would...

    scope recommendations under $200

The Navy Seal scope is/was a fixed 10x. Tasco had won the contract and SWFA purchased the over runs from them after Tasco fulfilled the contract. SWFA then contracted with Tasco to keep making the scope for them until Tasco went bankrupt and was purchased by Bushnell. SWFA then contracted...

    scope recommendations under $200

They were not but my premise is the same because I’m talking about glass quality, not field of view, adjustment range, etc.

    scope recommendations under $200

I’ve mounted and looked through many Crossfire’s. To my eyes the glass is subpar compared to a Fullfield in good light. In low light the difference is even more pronounced.

20 gauge autos, Stoeger M3020 vs. Mossberg SA-20?

For me the Mossberg. Less recoil and I believe it’s better quality. I owned a Stoeger for several years and it didn’t have any problems but I’d still take a SA-20. And it’s not even close.

    Hatfield SAS 20 issue

I would not try to hazard a guess on what the issue is. But I would contact Hatfield because due to the nature of the malfunction, in my mind it would be in their best interest to fix it at no charge.

Recommend a drop-in (no work needed) replacement recoil pad for Remington 11-87?

I’ve tried six or seven pre-fit pads over the last twelve or so years on one rifle and the rest shotguns. Only one fit, on a Remington 700 ADL. I went to grind to fit on the others, the gunsmith I use is very reasonable.
