    Loading the 9x18 Makarov

I've loaded a bunch of 9x18 Mak... first cartridge I reloaded. 1) I tried cutting down 9x19 brass. Not (IMO) worth the trouble. Several thousandths small in diameter, so had to flare the heck out of it, as well as trim off a mm. And, if memory serves, the bottom of the case was ever so...

Looking to start working at a gun counter at a local gun shop? Any tips?

A lot of good posts here, many of which mentioned firearm safety. Especially managing the actions of the public who walk in the door. One other thing I would like to add, please don't (as store personnel) sweep me with the muzzle of a firearm. I don't care if I just saw you check that gun for...

    Can someone please explain why

Why do you have to use more powder for a light bullet? Two words: nitrated fuel. Nitrogen bearing fuels as a class tend to generate more pressure if they meet with resistance. In other words, the more pressure they are under, the more they generate. The movement of the projectile down the...

.45ACP Hardball Duplication Loads with Case-Filling Powder & LRN 230gr

I know the OP was asking about loads for 230 gr. bullets, but don't know if he's locked on that or not. I used to load light loads for my Glocks with Bullseye & 185 gr. Flat nose Berry's plated projectiles. I can't remember how much I used - it was towards the lower end of the range of...

Where to shoot near Fort Smith, AR

Thanks, Spats! I think I picked the state with the best abbreviation. AK would be a close second, but it gets too cold there to even consider...

    Browning Black Label

I owned one of those Llamas for a short while; got it in package deal. Drop dead beautiful pistol; looked like a 3/4 scale 1911... I recall it had some issue that I ended up taking apart the trigger/sear/other stuff to rectify. Parts looked like they'd been made on a clapped-out Bridgeport...

    32acp or 380acp?

.380 is carrying 59% more energy than the .32; the 9x19 quoted above has almost 71% more KE than the 9x17. So, I guess that's a slightly bigger step, both in terms of pound feet, and percentage gain. Until I actually divided the numbers out, I would have guessed they were closer.

Hog Poison - Warfarin Failed, Now Sodium Nitrite Has Setback

Lots of good stuff here (and some... uh, honorable mention...) One thing caught my eye: putting out birth control for the pigs. No, not rounding them up to go to Planned Parenthood. *facepalm* I remember reading an article as a kid about research to control population of certain insects by...

Undercut, stippling and other unimportant pistol stuff...

X2! My Glocks are all "carry" guns. I prefer adding the slightly bigger slide release buttons on the G2-3; they all got the factory "-" connector, because I like them better. Neither of these modifications is a very large change from the original configuration, nor should they affect...

    32acp or 380acp?

Well, there ya' go. First time for everything... ...don't know if it's a trend, don't care to find out. Fixed the pistol and sold it. edit: .Bringing this back to the .32 vs. .380 topic, I remember hearing that there was one particular .32 ACP round that was especially effevective (for its...

    32acp or 380acp?

Had one of those, the little 950, or or whatever they're called... not only was it chambered in .22 short, the POS gun broke when slapping a magazine home. IMO, just a toy, and not even is particularly satisfying one at that

    Time for some honesty!

Carried a G21 (for a while was my only good SD gun) for a few years, was working where CCW was not only accetacc but encouraged. Then I took a job where I can't carry. Since I commute on a motorcycle often, locking the pistol in the car when I go in to work isn't an option...

    32acp or 25acp?

Primers at $.03 each Brass at $.075 ($15 for a box of 50 rounds; i'd figure you'll average four reloads, accounting for loss, damage and wear) Lead... Let's say you popped the wheel weights offa' the Rambler and melted 'em down Powder at $.005 (3500 rounds out of a pound of Bullseye that you...

Oregon proposes "mental health emergency" hold on gun purchases

I thought there was already a mechanism in place for contacting the authorities when someone is acting in a fashion that causes concern: call the police. If a person is deemed too unstable to be allowed access to firearms, why are they allowed to run free, with unfettered access to knives...

Assorted cartridges (calibers as most would say) to have on hand?

Cool idea, if you are getting rounds at a "deep deal" price you can call it an investment... I Like having pistols chambered in .22LR, .25ACP, 38 S&W, .38 Spl., 9mm, Makarov and .45ACP - during a shortage, I have more chances of getting ammo or reloading components for at least one firearm...
