    opinion on moveable press mount

I inlayed T-track into my bench and made 3/4” plywood mounts for my presses. I used 3/16” metal plate to reinforce the mounting plate. I’m at work so this is the only picture I have, but it might give a better idea of what I’m trying to describe.

What does your shop look like?

Nope, never. I kept that empty spot for her bed just so she could hang out in the A/C.

What does your shop look like?

This is the corner of my insulated and air conditioned garage shop. The rest is dedicated to woodworking so I made some drawers to keep some of the dust down on my gun tools. I haven’t reloaded anything since moving out here but I know I will need to thoroughly clean my presses before I do. My...

    Looking for Recommendations

Nothing else out there will give the amount of customization that the 10/22 will. The Tactical looks like it has a flash hider on it for an extra ~$100 over the Carbine. I assume it can be removed and give you the threads you are looking for. Later on down the road you can upgrade to your...

    .223 Complete upper

It depends on what type of “plinker” you want. Iron sights? Sounds like you might have an optic to put on it. You can build one hell of an upper for $1K. Here’s what I would consider your super premium option. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1003462623 JP Enterprises or Geiselle are top of...

.260 or 6.5 Creedmoor hunting rifle which one?

EDIT: I completely missed that you had dies for both. Then it’s a wash, pick whichever one you reload for more. I’d depends on if you reload or not. If you roll your own it doesn’t matter one bit. They are both easy to load for in my experience. If you are using off-the-shelf ammo then 6.5 is...

    Should I buy this

If you were looking for someone to talk you out of a buying a gun I think you came to the wrong place.

    Caliber Opinions

I personally like the 45LC. Mine is actually a Rossi 454 Casull that really only gets fed LC. I sure wouldn’t turn my nose up at a .357 lever gun though. I think this is a win-win for you here.

opinions on Enfield Jungle Carbine in .308?

Gibbs Rifle Co made a Jungle Carbine model in .308. I had one a few years ago that I wound up selling. Actually had a thread on it, it’s been longer ago than I thought. https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/gibbs-rifle-co-enfield-jungle-carbine-308.761553/ It was a handy little gun that...

    bullet weight for Rem 223

I’ve loaded some 75gr stuff that stabilized just fine in a 1:8 twist barrel. I didn’t care for how deep I had to seat to fit in and AR mag but it shot well.

    My Ruger American Ranch 5.56

Looks like a nice farm gun. Mine is an M77 Compact in .223. There is something very utilitarian about a short bolt gun in .223.

Twist and length - AR Barrel

I had a Stag Arms Super Varminter that had a 24” ss bull barrel with target crown. I remember that thing shooting amazingly consistent. I wound up selling the upper and scope to a forum member when my wife and I were a little hard up for money. Like all the firearms I’ve ever sold, I regret it...

    Adult Single Shot .22?

Love this Traditions Crackshot. I think I paid something like $120 about 6-7 years ago for it. It came with a fixed 4x scope and I put a little stock bag on it so I could carry a double-handful of rounds. 16” barrel makes it super easy to get in and out of the truck even with the full length stock.

    "Jack knife" shooting position

Never heard the term but like taliv, I’ve used it because it just feels natural. I try to avoid bone to bone contact because it is less stable and instead try to put my forearm just in front of my knee while holding my other arm. Love that picture of Hathcock too! Makes me want a heavy barreled...

What is you favorite caliber in 125 grains or less?

In South Georgia I wouldn’t mind using it for anything. It wouldn’t be my preferred deer bullet, just because I don’t trust the penetration, but then there are much better options to load in the .308 Winchester for that.

What is you favorite caliber in 125 grains or less?

.308 loaded with a 110 gr hollow point.

Recommend lower for LaRue upper 18"

I like Aero Precision parts. Quality has always been good for me. But I’m like marksman too, eventually I would like to have a matching LaRue billet lower just for matching sake. However, I currently have three stripped Anderson’s in the safe, so that what parts would get put in.

Varmint/target caliber opinions, new vs classic

For varmint, targets and MAYBE a trip out west I would choose a .223. It’s still more economical to shoot over just about any other centerfire rifle. It is easy to reload, both in development and components. But, if we are just trying to be different yet still practical, I think I would go the...

Looking for a long range shooting platform

The Tikka you are thinking of is probably the T3x CTR. I believe the longer barreled Varmint is also available in 6.5CM I have a first Gen RPR and fully believe it is capable of 1000 yards. I, however, am not. I’m limited by my usable range and lack of experience at that distance.

    Another suppressed Antique Marlin

Huh! Never knew I needed such a thing until I saw this. I missed the first one. I’m sold, I think I need one in .45 LC.
