    Pondering a Taurus 692

I don't know about that specific model, but I've always gotten good products from Taurus. I had a Tracker 44 not too long ago that I only got rid of because the opportunity for a Model 29 came along, but the Tracker was a really nice gun. Even had a really nice blue finish. I don't think they...

    New Blue Python BROKE! ugghh

They never did. I had a 38 M&P not too long ago that the S/N indicated was made in 1916. On the butt was a factory mark indicating that it was returned to the factory in 6/16. No idea why, I'm too cheap to spring for a letter. And it locked up on me after a few rounds in 2024, so I guess not...

    3" Saturday

I'm a fan of 4" barrels, but even I have found room for a couple of 3" ones. Smith and Wesson 3rd Model Hand Ejector, I frame, in 32 Smith and Wesson Long. From about 1920. Barrel is actually 3 1/4" but close enough At the other end of the spectrum, a brand new Taurus 327 T.O.R.O., in 327...

Pre 29 .44 Mag $2750?!?!?! holly Cow Expensive

I had to look that up. I had no idea what it was. Now, I figure I can either get two while they're cheap, or just keep driving my Fiat. I think the Fiat looks pretty good right now.

    New Blue Python BROKE! ugghh

Hope you get it fixed OK Mark. I once bought a new Ford Bronco that blew the engine at 156 miles and yes, I was mad as a hornet. But they fixed it and I never had another problem with it.

Open Carry in a Traffic Stop

Years ago, when having a permit and a gun on me were brand new, I would hand my CHP over along with my DL. I never actually got "pulled" just stopped at a license check point or something like that. After a couple of times having the officer glance at it, hand it back with "I don't need this"...

Mark...You're making me break at least one commandment. ;)

    S&W 14-4 (trash or treasure $980)

I'm in the too high camp, but heck in you want it, it's there. Me personally, I'm watching for a five screw one from the 50's to go with my '51, 22 Masterpiece. I'd expect to see a decent one tagged around $700 in today's market, no box, papers, etc. But the market can change either way...

    .22 revolver?

I sort of have some experience with one. It was a beautiful gun. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. Unfortunately, in spite of three trips back to the mothership, I never got to actually fire it. It locked up just working the action when I got it home (not dry firing, just working...

Pre 29 .44 Mag $2750?!?!?! holly Cow Expensive

Yea, that's a pretty high price, but (1) He's only got one to sell. (2) He only needs to find one buyer who can't live without it. (3) He can always come down, but he can't go up. Might as well start at the top.

Firing a DA revolver in SA mode

Almost all my shooting these days is DA unless maybe I'm trying a new (to me) gun with my elbows rested on the bench. This proves to me that it is ME shooting poorly, not the gun. (sigh) It always is.

    .22 revolver?

I don't bring it up very often, because it's so seldom mentioned that I sometimes wonder if I imagined it. That's the Taurus Model 96. That was the Taurus version of the Smith and Wesson 22 Masterpiece/Model 17. A K-frame sized revolver in 22 long rifle, with a 6" barrel, target sights, and...

    .22 revolver?

I never fail to check out the used gun section. That's where you find the real gems. I bought a couple of Rough Riders new, but I think they're the only 22's I've ever bought brand new. Rugers, Smith and Wesson, Colt, Dan Wesson, Harrington and Richardson, High Standard, Taurus, and some...

    Two of S&W best ever

I resisted them for many years. I finally got one a year ago or so, and suddenly understood all the "hype." I got a used -6, and I don't know if it's been fluffed and buffed on or what, but it is something else. I just had it at the range over the weekend and I'm still grinning. It's got...

Is Taurus a Good Brand for Revolvers

It was a pretty sharp recoil. It didn't take the gun out of my hand or anything, but I only shot those to be able to say I had. To me it's a 44 Special that can shoot 44 Magnum. The same as I do the Smith and Wesson 69.

Is Taurus a Good Brand for Revolvers

I did 10-12 rounds of factory 180 grain 44 magnum in the Tracker I had. That was enough to convince me it was a 44 Special that COULD fire magnums, but I'd never do them again. Now, that's not an inditement of the gun. The Tracker is just a smal, light (reletively) gun. Also the "ribber"...

    More Bull

You can get it from Taurus. It's available on their website. I need to order one for my 2" gun myself.

    More Bull

That's right. I've got a safe full of pretty Smith and Wesson's. These will have to earn their keep.

    More Bull

I have been very pleased with my Taurus 327 with the 2" barrel. Nice gun, but when I saw they made a 3' version, I thought I might like one just as a plinking gun, maybe with just 32 Smith and Wesson Long, which I've started to reload, so I picked this one up yesterday. I haven't shot it yet...
