I have found that Ramshot Big Game is an excellent powder for 165's and 180's in my several '06's. It delivers good accuracy and meters well. It's also my go-to in 9.3X62.
40-50 would get me started to see how well this rifle shoots, before I get a deeper investment into it. Based on much I read here from the informed and experienced members, I have some loads I'd like to try. I have a decent supply of LR primers and will probably discount using the Small Rifle...
The rifle is used and has the Talleys installed. Florescent lighting washed the color out in the photos. It's earth tan.

The Hunter comes with Talley LW mounts. I might change them out for Weavers, however. They're light, tough, and I have some older low rings with the large steel knobs. The Talleys are a bit high. They also allow me to have a second scope along on trips in case I bugger the one on the gun...
I shot a Kimber MT in 257 for years but sold it to pay some pressing bills...Big Mistake! It weighed nothing with the Leupold VariX 3-9 compact in Talley LW mounts. I also had a MT in 325 WSM that was my elk rifle. My grandson talked me out of it, but he lends it to me...lol. My FN LW 30-06 in a...
I have this coming. I'm new to the Creedmoor, but it seems like an easy to shoot and easy to load for round, and I need softer shooting and lighter guns now.
It will probably get a camo paint treatment with my dash spray gun.

Thank you to all who responded. It's got me comfortable about my choices.
My next question is regarding brass. What should I get? I'll be using the Kimber for hunting and a little casual paper punching.
I'm contemplating on getting 100 of these for starters...
Wow...thanks for the heads up on reducing weight. My left arm and shoulder are so compromised that saving weight is a BIG DEAL. I have a couple of pounds of H4350, or even IMR for heavy bullets and might use the R17 for medium weight ones.
I ran onto a box of 129gr SST's in the back of my...
I have a Kimber Hunter 6.5 Creedmoor on the way and would appreciate some loading experience/advice. I have various bullets for my 6.5X57R from 120gr to 142gr, and I have a selection of the old standard powders for 30-30 to 300 Wby and 375 H&H. It looks like R17, H and IMR 4895, H and IMR 4350...
I have even discontinued any shooting sports related magazine subscriptions, sadly. Woke corporate supermarkets have stripped them from their magazine sections, too.
Steer completely away from the Winchesters. They can't be re-regulated and are notorious for their poor factory regulation. The Japanese "manufacture" They don't "craft".
The Brownings are Belgian guns and an embarrassment, IMO.
LOL...the Blasers also have the look and feel of a jackhammer...
THAT was the 1st and Only Contender I ever fired. It was more than enough, and I'm not a recoilpuzzy. o_O
How does a 30-30 compare?
Also, I'm happy to see TC getting a transfusion and revived.
Got that right, DM!
They didn't make them easy to correct, either.
Lost are the old German masters who spent hours regulating a combination gun like your grand Kreighoff. I believe yours is from the mid 1930's, during the pinnacle of the quality combination guns. The steels were more modern...
