Thanks for posting all those pictures. Fine looking shooting irons!
I only have 1 revolver with a 7.5" barrel (Good for hunting)
I have several revolvers with 6.5" barrels and shoot them frequently but my favorite barrel length for shooting and carrying is a 5.5" barrel six shooter.
SUPER...
I am fine with and most often shoot milder .44 magnum loads from a revolver (1100 fps) but when it comes to my .44 magnum rifles, I prefer only near max loads. I want my rifle loads to be in the 1500 fps - 1600 fps range.
For years, i have used the Hornady 240 grain XTP JHP bullets in my .44...
I once bought 100 Starline nickel cases for .38 spl. Thought I would really like them. Wrong! I prefer brass cases much better - handgun or rifle. I do use the nickel cased handloads for my conceal carry revolver and a couple speed strips but when they are no longer usable, I don't have any...
That is the very same loader I started with and still use today. For me, I see no need to upgrade. As already mentioned, keep one of the primer arms in place when depriming.
I run a plastic hose from the primer catch well to a wastebasket.
I have two Taurus DA revolvers (.22lr/mag and .357 mag) and both have been solid firearms and never had a single problem. Hearsay says their customer service is lacking but I have no personal experience.
I have no plans to buy any Taurus revolvers in the future but I wasn't rally planning on...
I have never had one hiccup with CCI, Remington, or Hornady .22 mag ammo. The only ammo I ever had issues with were Winchester Dyna Points (may have been a bad lot but never bought any more).
I always vote. Usually for just a small number but I do vote. As others, this year I will only be voting for those not recommended by the board.
I doubt change will happen overnight but I will be one who tries to initiate a change.
I have never used Berry's plated DEWC bullets but have used X-Treme plated DEWC and Missouri Bullets coated lead DEWC. I load them to a OAL of 1.22" - 1.23"
For powder, I use either 4.0 gr. of HP-38 or 4.2 gr. of Unique. Don't have any velocity measurements for these loads but I think the...
My reloading beginnings were 20 & 12 gauge shotshells on a MEC 600 Jr. to lower the cost of shooting clay pigeons.
Expanded to .32 H & R magnum a few years later - hard to find and expensive factory ammo. Just kept expanding from there.
Now the only factory ammo I purchase is rimfire and .410...
My pick was .357 mag rifle. Economical to hand load and shoot. Good all around caliber for ranges <100 yds.
It is also the only one on the list that I own.
I have 4 Henry .22 rifles. I have never had a problem with any of them. I bought my first one in 1999, an H001 classic. I put a scope on it for the grand kids to shoot and it has had 1000''s of rounds put through it.
I also have the H001 carbine that I put Williams fire sights on (for my old...
I have a Henry .45-70 and I know the rifle will safely shoot loads that are much hotter than my shoulder can take.
As already mentioned - don't know why anyone would want to exceed maximum loads and run the risk of personal injury and destroying your firearm.
I am a firm believer that hitting...
Never owned one and never have shot one.
Only have two semi-auto pistols (one 9mm and one .22LR)
Just an old country boy that likes revolvers and lever guns.
I have had my reloading equipment for a number of years, so I don't really know how much I have in it. I checked the $1000 - $2000 range because it would cost $1275.00 today to replace what I have with the same equipment.
I just have basic beginner type equipment but it has served my needs very...
The Ruger Super Blackhawk with 5.5" barrel is a great woods gun, especially when loaded with Skeeter Skelton loads (240 gr LSWC over 7.5 gr of Unique in a .44 Spl case).
I shoot 2 mags (15 rounds) through my carry gun approx once a month. It is not really a fun gun to shoot.
I shoot other handguns (mostly revolvers) and rifles every week or two. The ones that are fun to shoot!
I don't own any AR style rifles. I carried an M16 in the field for my 6 years of military service but I have never really had the desire to own one. I live in Illinois, and almost bought one last year simply because the state has now declared we don't have the right to own one. Since...
