    Revolvers, fewer is more

I am starting to view durable good (like the .357 lever gun I just ordered) as "something my heirs will have to deal with".

How Many Extra Magazines Per Handgun?

Depends on the gun. Practically, I've noticed that I stop worrying about magazines when I have 8. Depends to, on how scarce and expensive the magazines are, and if the gun is going to be actually carried. (And, these days I'm mostly carrying one revolver or another, so "magazines" is moot...

Looking for a Handgun for Work

Interesting restriction. True DAO? Rare beast. Or "DAO" that's actually Glock type striker fired thing? Buy a Glock 19. Whatever generation floats your boat.

    Compact/Micro 9mm Suggestions?

Late to the thread. All the requirements are easy, except "hammer fired". The only ones that I can think of are the Kel Tec PF9, and Ruger's "homage" to it, the original LC9. Both no longer made. I have experience with the PF9. A firm "meh". Why does hammer fired matter? It probably...

Glock triggers - help me please.

Glock triggers "are what they are". Ditto. I put somebody's minus connector (wasn't Glock OEM, some fairly well known aftermarket, I forget who) and a Glock NY1 trigger on my G19. "Internet recommended!" including Mas Ayoob -- aaaand, I took it back to factory right there on the bench...

    ProMag Issues

I've sometimes had problems loading to full nominal capacity, but not that bad. Down a round or two, at most. Spring reversed, front to back, when assembled, possibly? Everyone has to find that out for themselves, I guess.

    XDS 45 acp

The usual long expensive search. For when I do carry, Blade-Tech Nano or Blade-Tech Eclipse work well for me. If I was going to do it now, I'd probalby have JM Custom Kydex make an IWB or AIWB for a 4" XDS for me.

    XDS 45 acp

I misremember then. I remember the problem cropping up very soon after introduction, and the .45 was the first.

    XDS 45 acp

The recall, and redesign of the grip safety, was before the 9mm XDS came out.

    XDS 45 acp

I haven't carried either of my XDS-s in a while, in favor of other things. I have a .45 and a 9mm. Both the original (not Mod 2) model. Shoot one first, to make sure it's not too much gun for your comfort. Run enough rounds through to make sure it runs well. (There was, it appears, a...

    These cartridges would not fire.

Starline brass. Buffalo Bore? Looks like light primer strike. Have you messed with or changed the hammer spring?

    Major virtue of a revolver

The singular one major virtue? How about this: safest administrative handling, and the most difficult to have an inadvertent discharge with.

    Charter Arms Pitbull 45acp?

If I remember right from prior postings, I think he actually contacted them to do it.

    Bulgarian Makarov Price

Time flies. Bulgarian Maks, I've spent $100 (gun store special sale, gun plus 1 mag), $139 (surplus, looked unfired (no barrel scuffing), with 2 mags serialized to the gun) and $179. All in the 2000 to 2005 time stretch. My brother has one, the others are gone, trade fodder. I only have a...

    Another interesting S&W a 58-1 .41 Mag

I think, check with S&W collectors, an N stamped on the back face of the cylinder.

Anyone else uses vastly different guns for carry?

Don't swap out, except for evident need. One or the other of my Taurus 856-s normally suffice for any situation I'm likely to be in.

Is Taurus a Good Brand for Revolvers

I have (counts on fingers) 4 Taurus revolvers. They work. a 2" 856 is my EDC. My last service experience, a year or two ago, was positive. My advice is to inspect it as you would a used gun. I usually point people to Jim March's revolver checkout document. Barrel clocking, pushoff...

Range report, eclectic mix of guns

Everything I read about the .44 Bulldog (Interwebz hearsay, YMMV) is, go easy on the loads. Hot .44s aren't good for it. 4.8 grains Bullseye behind 200 grain cast lead is what I run in mine. .45ACP equivalent.
