    shooting long range

DeerHunter, Yes sir I'm aware of that, I've done it too in palma shooting, but they do not generally "clobber folks using $3000 rifles with $1500 scopes" as was suggested. Obviously the poster was shooting in the any sight category and was using a rifle scope.

A Weaver 3x9 scope ought to do nicely at 100 yards.

    shooting long range

A Weaver 3x9 scope at 1000 yards? What were the targets, BARNS? You clobbered guys with $3000 rifles and $1500 scopes? What did you do? Sneak up behind them while they were shooting and whack 'em in the head with an axe handle? BTW, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

    BP Revolver

Big Block wrote...... What on Earth makes you think that? Stainless is just as strong (not stronger) than carbon (regular) steel. It's also harder to machine and less susceptible to rust, but NOT impervious to it. There are many grades of stainless steel and that's what determines it's...

    Vid Pic's What is...M1

Clancy, Looks to me that the op rod catch missed holding the op rod back after the last shot. The last photo shows the empty clip leaving the rifle, but the bolt is now forward of the clip slots in the receiver.

Are the rack grade Garands worth it?

To qualify, yes (they've dumbed down that in recent years) but that's not REAL shooting!

The over all length will depend on the bullet weight and shape you use. Most revolver bullets have a cannelure to crimp the case mouth into. Use that to set your COAL (cartridge over all length)

    BP Revolver

I think you'll find that Taylor imports guns, not manufactures them. Most of their cap&ball revolvers are imported from Uberti in Italy. There are none finer! :D

Are the rack grade Garands worth it?

I'm glad it made you smile :) The Army and the NRA consider 200 and 300 yards "short range". 100 yards is reduced "range". 25 yards isn't even "range", it's spitin' distance. ;)

Are the rack grade Garands worth it?

Are you Kidding? I can throw stones and get 1/2" groups at 25 yards! :neener: Why not just use a stick, and poke holes?

Correia, I think you've been working too hard. Go lie down and take a nap. You feel better later. :D (I still don't like the AK's)

What the heck are you referring to? The cartridge .303 British? Rifles that shoot that caliber? I'm not at all clear what you are talking about!

    Gunbroker Krag problems

Sounds like too much of a project to me. Were you planning on restoring it or refurbishing a bubba'd nightmare? You'll spend at least as much as you paid for the gun to try to restore it. If I were you, I'd cut my loses and return it. :(
