    AR15 recommendation

You've been given some very good advice and I can only add my very limited experience. I'm currently on my second AR. First was a Bushmaster bought during the '94 ban. It has since been sold for financial reasons. It was a good rifle and bought used. My second and newest rifle is from a...

    Deer/hog gun?

Thanks everyone. I don't plan to hunt until next year. That's why I'm starting my research now. plus it will give us time to learn and become comfortable with shooting the rifle. It will be myself and my son (10 years old) learning together along with help from more experienced hunter friends...

    Deer/hog gun?

Howdy all. I'm a newbie hunter. I know .243 is good for white tail, but is it adequate for feral hog as well? Would I be better served with a larger caliber? Any and all advice is appreciated.

    Smith 19-5 current value?

Sorry for the omission. The gun is in VG condition. Everything is mechanically sound and shoots well. It is currently wearing some Pachmyer grips, but I do have the original woods. If sold a Tucker holster would be included.

    Smith 19-5 current value?

Could someone please give me the current value for a 19-5 2 1/2? What would also be a fair price for one? Thanks.

    Load Data Help .41 Magnum

I'm hurt. That hour I spent with my trusty camera didn't produce any "good ones". Heck my worst pic is better than that junk you posted. That one doesn't do that purty gun justice. BTW, good thread. You've all given him enough good info that kept us busy on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

My model 19-5. Also have a Ruger Single Six but no picture of it.

Tell me about local Houston Tx gunshops

I'd have to agree with everything you've said and also add that Carters is a great place to go if shotguns (not tactical/self defense) and deer rifles are your thing. They cater to hunters. The evidence is in the range prices. "Normal" hunting style rifles are $8, handguns are $10 or $12 I don't...

Looks like my friend found this post. Good, he'll know more what he wants than I.

    Looking for a Smith revolver

I am trying to find out if there is a counterpart to the model 19. What I mean is a K-frame in .357, blued and with fixed sights? I am asking for a friend who is likes my 19 2/12 barrel, but isn't a fan af adjustable sights. Also a full under lug like the 19 would be good too.

200 gr. LSWC Bullets Recommendations please.

Need recommendations for this bullet. I normally use the Lasercast bullet but my normal sources (Midway and Cabelas) are back ordered. Dillon seems to have them in stock but they want more than I normally pay at the other places. I'm contemplating buying the Hard Cast lead ones offered at Dillon...

    The K Frame

I can finally join. Here is my Mod 19-5 2 1/2". This is my first and seems as if it could easily become and obsession.

What causes bullets to key hole?

Thanks for all the good discussion. It's helping me learn more and more about revolvers. I believe that the ammo was the culprit. I shot two different types of ammo and the Monarch. The Monarch was the only one that gave the problem. 158gr LSWC hand loads produced nice clean holes pretty...

What causes bullets to key hole?

Bingo! The gun is not new. It's a 1983 vintage from the info I've received. Accuracy was good. That wasn't a problem. Thanks for the tips. I'll try some different ammo.

What causes bullets to key hole?

I picked up a used model 19-5 2 1/2 over the weekend. Took it to the range for the first time this evening. It's nice shooting gun, accurate for the short barrel, and fun. I used two different targets. One for 38's and the other for 357. The 357 target had a bunch of clean cut holes roughly in...

    Another S&W Model 19

Could someone help me with the birth date of the model 19-5, serial #ACM95XX, that I picked up this past weekend? Thanks for any help. Also looking for the approximate value of a model 57, no dash, in factory nickel. Don't have access to serial # since my buddy that bought it won't let me...
