    Another Odd, Possibly Dumb Idea

You can't just cut the slide... or replace it with a shorter one.. there are timing & magazine issues and spring issues and weight issues which cause slide speed issues.. a 1911 is a balance of many things happening in an exact time frame... you change one part a lot and you have a mess...

Does a press-check affect accuracy of the first round fired?

I don't see the need for a press check in IDPA matches... I see the need only for serious business defensive pistol work. The first round is allready not going to hit in exactly the same spot as the others because of the slide speed as you loaded the ammo... as opposed to the guns normal self...

    Why all the Lorcin Hate?

I have never owned a jennings / lorcin / davis / sterling and never will. These guns are hated because they are made from very poor quality metal... and have very poor design and parts... and tend to fail to fire at an amazingly high rate. They typically are seen in the inner city and often sold...

No more Glocking ... one man's story

I have owned 1911 style pistols since 1980.... I purchased some glocks starting in 1999.... I have recently started to sell the glocks.... currently down to a 17-C / 20 lower / 36 and a 31... At one point I had eight or nine glocks... I got tired of the trigger pull and some of the broken...

    Wringin' Out the 'Rinco

That is a good looking norinco... did yours come with no made in china or import stampings ??? I removed mine, but I don't see the metal altered on yours and no markings... Is that a fine parkerizing ?? it seems less grainy or rough than many parkerizing jobs that I see....

Some Thoughts and Questions on Dropping the Slide

When the range officers ask you to slam shut the slide on your 1911, or to drop the " clip " , or to lower the " hammer " on your glock ...you know you should look around for another place to shoot. Sloppy gun terms and sloppy gun handling.... show me that people still require a lot more...

    Favorite 45

I like my Ed Brown exec-carry best. It is really perfect in my hand.

Should I Wait For Next Sig?

I would really try out the new sig trigger before buying one. I have not had the chance to shoot the new sig trigger myself, but all in all I really like the 1911 trigger best. The HK usp can be shot from cocked and locked position and that is also a way to shoot that I like. The SA / DA trigger...

22-year-old man on 1911forum tells it like it is... hope he's a recruiter

I don't care what the rest of the world does... I only care about what works for me... I like the 1911 and the large pickup truck..

    Odd Glock malfunction?

I think you maybe have some maintainance cleaning issues to address ... I would return the glock to stock condition and go from there... I use a 3.5 pound connector and all polished trigger parts.

Some Thoughts and Questions on Dropping the Slide

I would question for league shooting why dropping a 1911 slide with the slide release is safer than closing it with your hand ???? especially since you allready dropped the mag... and will shortly drop the hammer... Don't the safety guys have a clue ???

    BHP A Step Backwards?

The feel of the high power in your hand is nice... I just don't like the feel of 9mm... I still think Browning was a genious ... and that the 1911 was his best work...
  14. Q

You Glock Guys love those springy triggers!

A bit of flitz and a 3.5 lb connector and the glock trigger is less like pulling a cat off of a screen door. the glock trigger reset however is very nice and a good way to shoot quickly....

    BHP A Step Backwards?

quote " Surely you're not making this statement while carring a 1911 are you? I would be more concerned about them being turned into a club when you compare general reliability. Besides, a 9mm Hi Power with 14-16 rounds will be shooting while your changing mags on a std 1911. " I feel well...

    BHP A Step Backwards?

I hate to buck the trend... but I consider the BHP a step backwards in several areas... The 9mm is not as good a round as the 45 acp in my opinion. The .40 models are what they are... but 45 will be my choice thanks.. The magazine disconnector is just a terrible thing in my opinion...

Plastic mainspring housing on newer 1911 styles

I have not seen any plastic parts in my 1911's.... I throw the colt arched mainspring housings in parts bags when I buy wilson flat serrated msh's .... the plastic ones would go in the can next to the fridge.....

Which of the polymer pistols is the toughest?

I have owned HK usp's about ten years... also had a socom for a while... I liked them both... They will go forever... At one point I had eight glocks... but in competition ( IDPA ) I started having problems with breakage on my glock 31 in 357 sig. plastic guide rods... spring cups... springs...
