    1911s don't like me.

As a machinist in the machine repair and modification industry and a huge admirer of JMB, I've tried to like the 1911 but they just don't fit my hand "right". Now the HP on the other hand.........

Congrats on the 92 they are very nice handguns. I had one and sold it. This thread has brought on a case of sellers regret. :cuss:

Who prefers to carry a revolver and why.

I prefer a hammerless revolver for CC. They hide very easy and are simple to operate. If you can pull the trigger it will go bang, five times. Doesn't matter if its in a pocket, jammed against the aggressor, which finger your pulling the trigger with, or anything else, it will work.

Repurposing non gun stuff as gun stuff

I use the nylon camera / phone bags from Walmart for carrying spare ammo and mags when out and about.

If You Could Have Any 10 Guns For Free ...

Some are specific models, some I'd have to shop around for. 1) A 5 1/2" Linebaugh Custom in .480 Linebaugh. 2) Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan in .375 Ruger 3) Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum 4) Another Mossberg 500 to turn into a predator shotty. 5) O/U 12 Gauge with double beads and choke...

    Private Gun Buybacks.

I have no problem with this. A perk for the "gun guy" cops is a good thing.

    Full auto petition

And I'd wager that the ammo companies would fight for this to see their stocks soar overnight.

    Hospitals Internet gun site blockers

I was in a hospital with the same blocks on firearm and hunting related websites and retailers (no Cabella's) a while ago. Interestingly though I was able to get to the Budweiser, Jim Beam and Jack Danial's websites. Also, I was able visit websites which sell cigarettes and other forms of...

CZ 452 .22 LUX Not as Advertised - What to Do?

Yup, you got screwed, intentionally or not. Whether or not he's got the money (probably not) you ain't gonna see any of it. People are funny like that. Welcome to the world of buying sight unseen on a sight with no rating system. An honorable seller would have made things right or be...

The joys of having your own range

Never been to a public range. As a kid and now I shoot nearly every day. Sometimes one shot, sometimes 100+. Today was a 100+ day. :D I would not consider owning a house where I could not shoot.

    Question for the country boys

My Taurus M605 is my "go to town" (work) gun - easily hidden, slips in pocket, there if you need it. Generally I switch to either the Buckmark or BH .44 Special for around the farm and horseback riding. Sometimes OC sometimes CC especially when doing dirty / dusty work. Hard cast FP or LSWC...

Another chance to play ambassador to England

Good for you ambassador SSN Vet! I had a similar experience with some Chinese visitors of my neighbors. They were walking down the road (very rural setting) taking pics and trying to take it all in as I rode by on my horse. I stopped to say hi and they noticed the .44 on my hip. One thing...

    Can not carry at work

As is the case of a couple other posters I could carry (we have a mandatory show and tell policy) but it's not feasible considering the environment. It is locked in my tool box with fairly quick access though. When I leave to look at a job offsite it goes with me. Someone would have to...

Why Arent 9mm Revolvers More Popular?

I think a 4" small frame revolver with adjustable sights in 9mm would be a nice outdoorsman's gun. But it will probably never be made.

    .357 snubbie or 9mm?

Likely SD/HD scenarios highly favor the snubbie. A) Shooting from a pocket. B) A "get off me" or very close contact situation. Pressing a semi auto against flesh can scoot the slide back slightly taking it out of battery and not allowing it to fire. Also in a tight situation the slide...

Which of these compact pistols would you prefer to have?

SR9/40c. Adjustable sights and thumb safety. Fits my hand perfectly, YMMV.

Scenario - As you pull into your driveway, criminals flee from your house

I'd keep my gun holstered, grab my phone, and run after them keeping a safe distance and communicating their whereabouts with 911. Chances are I know the lay of the land better and am in better shape than they are. If they're running they probably won't make it 1/4 of a mile anyhow still...

New (to me) Browning Hi Power HP questions

If there is a corresponding hole on the right side of the frame I'd lean towards them being for an optic mount. The under-table mount idea is a good possibility too along with variations for a car, bike etc. Kind of like buying an old tractor with 60+ years worth of farmer re-engineering on...

    LCR .357 Ranch Carry

When you are working (actual physical labor requiring movement and exertion, unfamiliar to many) or operating a piece of equipment that requires movement to operate, every little bit of not much extra gun tends to get in your way. BTDT. Hence the recommendation for a smaller gun.
