Looking for 25-20 Win. brass; its apparently rather scarce now!

Have tried the usual catalog sources such as Midway USA and MidSouth Shooters Supply and no one has any. When I was shooting NRA Hunter Pistol Silhouette a few years ago it was easy to find. What has happened?

    American Business (.204 Ruger discussion)

I have one of the Ruger .204's and the dies to reload. It is a great rifle and very fast with light bullets. I think that perhaps the originator of this thread has an axe to grind. Hopefully he will explain and answer some of the above questions.

    Your sexiest gun?

[/IMG] This is in 7mm International, a 300 Savage necked down to 7mm. It is a handful and will knock over the rams with authority.

Why is the Nat'l Matches being moved out of Camp Perry?

Few have fought with the NRA more than I have. They make some bad mistakes yet they do a tremendous amount of good. The fact we still have a viable 2nd Amendment is due to the fear factor that they have put on the Congress. The other thing that they do well at is help with bringing in junior...

Why is the Nat'l Matches being moved out of Camp Perry?

I read in Shooting Sports USA that the High Power matches and other national matches are being moved out of Camp Perry. After 107 years as the the premier place for shooters, suddenly a change supposedly noted as an upgrade. I am sure many shooters will not be happy as well as the vendors who...

    Maine shoots Dow UBCs

As an old geezer of almost 85 I did as much as I could and even gave the UBC No group as much money as I could spare. It was SAM and die hard Gun Owners of Maine who worked hard to get the info out as to the out of state Bloomberg money and legal-ease wording of a ludicrous referendum question...

    256 Mag, should a would a could a.

Own a Thompson Contender in that caliber, .256 Winchester Magnum. The cartridge is based on a .357 Magnum necked down to 0.257-inch. I would not consider it a good deer or pig cartridge as its velocity is only around 2300 fps and energy of around 700 ft/lbs. Of course those number might be...

    Shooting and Blood Lead Levels

At 83 my personal opinion is that good hygiene is enough. Wash your hands! It is my observation that casting and reloading are more apt to cause a problem with lead than shooting, even indoors. Just wash and when casting do so with a fresh air flow away from the pot. Common sense goes along way!

    Leukemia, chemo, and firearms?

Several years ago we had a preteen junior rifle shooter with leukemia and he want though all these ordeals. He today is a strapping 6 footer and very healthy. He had to miss some of the shooting when he was most vulnerable but he made it and has fully recovered. Hang in there!

The worst ammunition you've ever shot?

My son had some expensive DoubleTap ammo in .35 Whelen and he had several of them have leaks burn through the base wall upon firing. When I told the manufacturer about it they were able to duplicate it and sent me back an email saying they were changing to Norma brass. Here is a picture:

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

Well I just got an email from Doubletap that said- "upon your letter we did some testing of our own and found the same problem with the reloads we are now going to switch to norma brass Thank you for your input and we would like to offer you a 15% discount on your next order" You can bet...

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

The brass was new un-fired initially and the first 2 failures were 1st time reload with below start recommended powder, IMR 4064, 52.5 grs. . There hand-load data shows 54 gr start and top at 59 gr which would be a full case. I'll post two more photos: http://oi57.tinypic.com/kce0k8.jpg...

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

New info regarding this case failure. The son tried some more original factory Doubletap cartridges, net reloads and had one of those fail. Now that is something that I would not have done but it is his skin and gun. Obviously the brass is bad. I am familiar with checking the ring inside for...

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

The load I was using and I tore down another later to check it was 52.3 grains of IMR 4064. The IMR data shows start load at 54 grs and max. load at 59.0 grs. It cannot be an over charge as the cases were darn near full at 53 grs. It must be a bad batch of brass. I have email Doubletap and sent...

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

Just to add more info, on one of the cases there were two holes similar to the ones shown only 180 degrees apart. It is possible that this is brass that was more used but if so why the head stamp. That to me indicated new brass to begin with. The company is DoubleTap and located in Utah. Here...

Anyone have a clue why this is occurring?

My son is preparing to hunt elk in Colorado and purchased a Kimber .35 Whelen in stainless and plasitic stocked and to lessen the recoil a bit had a muzzle brake installed as he is not a big person. He has been practicing and asked me to reload for him. There were various brass and the load I...
