    20 gauge New England single shot my dad bought me at 12. Still have it. First I bought was a Benelli Nova which I no longer have. Of course I bought another a few years later.

    For me its either my 7mm or 375 Ruger. Why? They are what I have and I know they will do the job.

    I generally carry 1 of 4 guns. A 642, 460S&W, Ruger Redhawk in 41 mag or G20. No climbing but lots hiking and hunting.

    At a weight of nearly 12lbs ready to hunt I can't justify mine for hunting in the mountains here in Idaho. If I could drop it to down around 9lbs I would consider it.

    Paying for more expensive shells

    The local Sportsmans sells AA's for $8.47 a box. Giving a discount when you buy 10 or more this applies to any shotgun ammo. No reason not to buy them.

    Anyone ever tried 5 Star Firearms speed loaders?

    I use them for my 460 and 500 Smith's. At the end of the day they are a metal HKS but I have never had an issue with them walking around in the wild.

    And to be clear the process in Idaho for the basic permit is walk into the Sheriffs office, show proof of firearms safety course, have your finger prints taken and wait for the background check to clear. My proof of firearms safety was my Iowa hunters safety card that I obtained in April of 1995...
