    Failure rate (real world)

Thought I'd throw this out there: what is you're personal experience with semi-auto handgun failure percentage? I have a Hi-Point C9 (no jokes please, I do like my C9..;)) Mine has 342 rounds fmj fired for 2 double-feed and 2 fail-to-feed. 7 trips to the range, approx. 42 to 50 rounds each range...

    Mosin rifle bolt/ammo question..

I posted earlier on this same subject, but here I go again. Got back from the range today after shooting 30 rounds - 25 of Brown Bear lacquer coated steel cased and 5 of a no-name, new production Russian, steel cased/copper washed. Once again, the copper washed ammo was much harder to cycle in...

    Mosin rough bolt

I've owned a Mosin 1891/30 for 3 years now, and it's been a great rifle. I've shot 300+ rounds thru it, firing Brown Bear and Silver Bear 203 grain soft point with no problems, other than tightening the sear spring screw a few weeks ago. Last week at the range, I was shooting some Russian...

    Loaded magazine - spring damage?

I just purchased a new compact 9mm. I plan to store it in a soft case with the magazine separate from the gun but loaded in the case. Question - will keeping the magazine fully loaded damage the spring and/or follower?

    Question for Mosin owners...

I have a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 made in 1933 at Tula with a hex receiver. It's arsenal refinished and I purchased it from J&G sales online in April 2010. I've shot some 210 rounds of both lacquer coated steel case and zinc plated steel case ammo thru without a single failure. I had it inspected by...

What is a gun without bullets?

I heard a recent news story about the murders in Afghanistan commited by our 'allies' against coalition soldiers - it said they are 'now carrying loaded weapons' or something similar. My response was WHAT!? I seem to recall hearing this same thing after 9/11 with the soldiers protecting our...

Stripper Clips - The Good and The Bad

Do you have experience using stripper clips? I recently purchased a set of 5 clips for my Mosin-Nagant rifle for around $5 - $8 dollars total. I tried them out today, and ended up throwing them all in the trash! I'm assuming the original clips used by Russian and Soviet soldiers actually worked...

Firearm safety inspections - Yes or No?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to throw this out there - what do you feel is the importance of having a used gun inspected by a competent gunsmith for safety and function? I myself tend to think that it's an absolute must. My only gun so far is a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 rifle that I bought online in...
