I have a dilemma... trade into a like new ruger blackhawk stainless 10mm/.40 s&W

You want to know what the kicker is? I was looking for a Buckeye .38-40/10mm for years. You could always find them on Gunbroker for $1200-$1300, which was more than I wanted to pay. So when the new 10mm/.40 model came out I jumped on one of them. And then within a year of buying it, I found...

I have a dilemma... trade into a like new ruger blackhawk stainless 10mm/.40 s&W

If you’re at all interested in the Blackhawk 10mm, get it now. You can replace the MK-II pretty easily. There were far fewer Blackhawks produced in this chambering. The stainless 10mm/.40 was offered with barrels in 4-5/8” and 6-1/2” lengths. The other option is the blued model produced for...

    Tippman Ordinance .22LR Gatling Gun

It’s not a handgun, as it does not meet the definition of a handgun. It would be a “title I firearm”, just like the 12-gauge things with no buttstock and sub-18” barrel.

    Why 32 h&r?

As noted by others, the .32 Mag makes a nifty outdoors / small game cartridge. But my .32 Mag has a 5.5” barrel, and the Blackhawk in .327 Fed is really oversized for the cartridge. The J-frame snubby would fall into the “neat to have” category, but not something I’m going out of my way to get.

    Why 32 h&r?

The same or slightly less than 9mm reloads.

Spitzer bullet on top of .30 Carbine?

As noted, a pointy spitzer bullet won’t fit in the chamber. The end of the bullet will poke out the end of the cylinder. If you were using a rimmed case, you could shorten the case and reduce your OAL. But that won’t work, where the .30 Carbine headspaces off the case mouth. As for improved...

    Most Accurate 10mm Out-of-the-Box?

Same ammo, shot from one gun than the other. Both targets shot offhand from 25 yards. The target on the left is from a Ruger Blackhawk and the one on the right is a Colt Delta Elite.

    50 AE Snap Caps

FWIW, I’ve owned multiple Desert Eagles over the past 15 years. I have never used snap caps in any of them and I do a fair bit of dry fire with them.

    Shortening 45-70 cases.

I cut down some a few years ago, just to try out. As noted by others, the case taper will get you. I had to run the end of the case into a .45 Colt sizing die to get any kind of neck tension. They shot ok, as I recall. No worse than any of the other stuff I had been shooting. From a legal...

    400 Corbon Why?

I do agree with this statement. It seems like we get a new whiz-bang cartridge every couple of years. Only these rarely do something that an established cartridge isn’t already doing. Look at the .350 Legend, .360 Buckhammer, .400 Legend, or .30 Super Carry for just a few recent examples.

    400 Corbon Why?

No, not so much this one. .45 ACP already made major power factor easily and the .400 Corbon gave no advantage in mag capacity, having the same case diameter as the ACP. And people had been making major for years prior with .38 Super, which does provide a capacity advantage. I had bought a...

Revolver grips: small change = huge improvement

As requested. M29-5 on top, M25-15 middle, Blackhawk .45 bottom.

Revolver grips: small change = huge improvement

Yep, that last picture shows it well. Probably not a problem for someone with larger hands than mine, as you note. What’s funny, the wood grain makes it look like yours are contoured as well. But the last picture show it well.

Revolver grips: small change = huge improvement

I’ve been loading for and shooting the .45 Colt in a Ruger Blackhawk for nearly 30 years. And I’ve always wanted a S&W revolver chambered in this cartridge. So I finally bought one. It’s a factory new M25-15, which has the tapered 6-1/2” barrel and nice wood target stocks. I don’t intend to...

    .32 acp reloading question

Before you make a bunch of changes, you might try loading a few dummy rounds with your regular .313" bullets. They might work just fine. Going to an undersized cast bullet is likely to give you a lot of leading in the bore. As noted, Lee makes a swaging die that can be used to reduce the...

    Heaviest 10mm

It also depends on what you want to do with it. I’ve loaded 10mm and .40 with up to 220 gr. bullets, but not necessarily going for maximum speed. Back in the ‘90s, it was common in USPSA to load heavy bullets with fast powder. This provides enough power to make Major power factor (which is a...

    MI Subgun Championship 2023 (video)

Depends on where “around here” is. I know of subgun matches in PA, OH, TN, FL, TX, MI, NE, AZ, AK, and NV. Maybe a few others. Some are monthly and others are once a year. And we had people travel to MI from VA, FL, AZ, and from several states in between. With the Knob Creek match gone, it...
