The best pro-gun editorial in a newspaper, ever!

For the Love of...That is the best I've ever read! I am unabashedly envious of that man's eloquince! Will post to FB as soon as I get off work! (restrictions, you know.)

All they's good for is KILLIN' people!

    Isn't that a little harsh?

    ID this cartridge!!!

I've fired a .450 Ackley Magnum...that was built by P.O. Ackley (With the paperwork to prove it.) The recoil with 350gr bullets was horrendous. Didn't have the nerve to try the 500grain.

A little freaked out at the range today.

I'da RUN! Chiming in on the general consensus, RUN! Emergency Room soup consists of 90% stupid with a dash of unlucky for seasoning. Probably the only thing that really bothers me about this scenario is it showing up in the news as "another senseless gun death" Well, OK, the senseless...

    Two Newly Inherited Rifles

x2 When I inherited an old Winnie, I did all the repairs to the stock in such a way that the 100year old external finish was unaltered. Someday you will be glad you did it that way.

    How to defend black rifles?

My apologies. I do that sometimes. I think it is mainly that all the "liberals" I count as friends and associates are the only even marginally anti-people I communicate with, and none of my "conservative" friends are "that way". I never intentionally refer to rabidly anti's as anything else...

Just bought a new gun safe, still new advice.

Amen. Some people just CANNOT shut up! The sick thing is that, even though we are 90% certain, there isn't a shred of physical evidence to proceed on. The cops DO know who to keep a eye on, so I keep hoping.

Just bought a new gun safe, still new advice.

I believe they are manufactured by Granite Security Products here in the US. The smaller pistol vault ones may be made overseas. I bought the size I could afford, and that will fit in the spot I have for it. As to bolting it down; the bolts will go through the floor to two larg-ish 1/4...

    How to defend black rifles?

This. I don't argue any more. I've only ever made ONE liberal even waver on the subject. You can shoot down every reason they have, and it makes no difference. The one argument I haven't tried is: Since you want to change the constitution, I should not have to justify my perfectly legal...

Just bought a new gun safe, still new advice.

Thanks to everybody for the input. I like the RSC real well. I just wish I hadn't had to learn the hard way. The purchase was funded with the insurance payment on an irreplaceable family heirloom firearm. (and two very replaceable others.) Glad they didn't have time to clean me out. Having...

    Anybody else like gun stickers/decals

Does anyone know where I can get a Violence Policy Center Donor sticker... Oh wait, THAT might not be a good idea either. Learned about PERSEC the hard way.

    browning blr opinions

I bought a pre-81 back in the mid-80's. Great rifle. Shot many deer with it. Well under MOA with some reloads. I never thought the trigger was bad at all, I guess I just got a good one. Now it's gone. Some miscreant stole it. I've since replaced it with another one that's in better...

    Savage 340c 30-30 age

Boyd's makes a really sweet thumbhole stock for the 340. When I re-barreled my .222 to .223 I got one. It looks very good. If I EVER get home again I'll take a photo. BTW, I had to make a barrel nut wrench for it, couldn't find one anywhere.

    How much ammo?

Well, I met a guy a few years ago who had about 75,000 rounds of .22 long rifle ammo... :what: You know the type, every time it was on sale he'd grab somewhere between 2 bricks and a case. He burned through .22 ammo fast, but not that fast. And yes, I SAW the stash once. I accused him...

Is a magnum primer necessary in .308 using W748

I tried both magnum and regular with 748 in my .308 way back when chrono's were first getting affordable. I noticed a slight increase in velocity with the magnums, but the min/max difference with standards was smaller, so I went with them. Winchester primers.

Reloading browning BLR- is it hard?

I've been reloading for the BLR .308 for over 20 years. I have always used the Lee small base dies. It is a fun rifle, and will usually give you excellent accuracy. One "drawback" is the short magazine (at least in my pre-81) doesn't allow you to seat the bullet as close to the lands as other...

    Gun Smithing....The lost profession

I was not saying one should try to avoid the license issues. I was saying one could Be licensed as such, but not try to represent oneself as being able to do all the things a true 'smith can do, just do the things you are competent at. No false representation, so to speak.

    Gun Smithing....The lost profession

It might be possible to have a part-time business, not as a full-range gunsmith, but as an "armorer" who knows certain popular firearms inside and out. There are a lot of AR's out there. I doubt the majority of the owners are competent to do more than clean them, let alone figure out what...

    Fobus Holster

Fobus paddle, left side. Made for SIG, but works with S&W 3913. Mine doesn't have the adjustable retention, but I have never had the slightest issue with it despite it's "hold" being a little light. I wouldn't recommend doing cartwheels, though. The adjustable retention is much nicer.

What is the time frame on recovering firearms used in lawful self defense incidents?

Well, just don't plan on EVER seeing your handgun again if the Milwaukee PD gets involved: http://concealedwisconsin.com/blog/milwaukee-police-department-refuses-to-return-armed-citizens-gun/ This guy was 100% in the right, DA said so. But Milwaukee's PD doesn't really care about the rule of...
