    How do you recover?

The same way you'd get over a non-fatality auto accident. Just be more careful from now on and say thank you to the man upstairs.

    Scope recommendations for a Marlin 1894c (.357/.38)

I had a Leupold 2-7x on mine, but have settled on these: http://www.skinnersights.com/ I use it for hunting and won't shoot the .357 farther than 75-100 yards on deer. These sights keep the rifle clean and light weight, while still giving excellent accuracy.

    Radioactive Russian Ammunition

84B20, Since you have a Geiger counter, if you have any or know anyone with Russian import ammo, could you give it a whirl?

    Radioactive Russian Ammunition

No rumor was started. I asked if anyone had measured. Never said that I knew one way or the other. We speculated a bit in this thread, but still no one has measured.

    Radioactive Russian Ammunition

Justin's chart illustrates how bad Chernobyl was and still is. Geiger counters are relatively cheap. Surely someone out there has access to one and can test various types of Russian ammo.

    Radioactive Russian Ammunition

Looking at a map of the Chernobyl fallout, much of western Russia (including Tula) received significant amounts. Has anyone ever tested Russian ammo and guns for radioactivity? Does anyone have access to a Geiger counter?

    SKS accuracy

Chucking the front sight post in a drill and narrowing it down on a metal file is so easy that it makes spending the $5 +$2 shipping seem ridiculous.

    .22lr Accuracy at 100 Yards

I just really enjoy popping clay pigeons at 100, 200, and 300 yards with a semiauto, cheap ammo, and some guesstimated hold over. I'm zeroed at 50 yards. 100 yards is the where the duplex reticle goes from thin to thick. 300 yards is holding all the way at the bottom of the picture. It's...

Looking at the Kahr PM9 vs the New CM9

I purchased for $519, not $639. :D Stainless slide with white bar dot sights. The same gun my local shop wanted $639 for. http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=KAHR-PM9093

Looking at the Kahr PM9 vs the New CM9

I bought a new PM9 Saturday. $519 + $29 shipping + $20 FFL transfer = $570 out the door :D Local the best price was $639 + $60 tax = $700 out the door. :cuss: I bought from www.GTDist.com They didn't charge anything extra for using my credit card. They had 4 in stock as of Saturday...

Handled a Kimber Solo yesterday and....

This was exactly my experience yesterday as well. They had one for sale for $629, but the mag release was bad. It took a lot of force to push, then it would break free. The gun seemed to be well finished and didn't feel cheap to me. The magazine felt very cheap though. Ultimately, I bought...

Best AK Mount? Take this Poll IF YOU KNOW THESE PRODUCTS

Hmm. I have the gen-1 rail and I've called Texas Weapon Systems a couple of times. They always picked up the phone within a ring or two during their business hours. Did you try to call them Girodin?

How well does the Hornady SST round work on deer?

It'll work, no doubt. But it isn't shocking when a 95 grain bullet with a thin jacket fails to penetrate deeply.

    AR/AK/.308 advice please...

The www.texasweaponsystems.com rail and peep make scoping a Saiga or any other AK as convenient as on an AR. I have killed 4 deer over the last two years with a 7.62x39 AK with a 2-7X Leupold on this rail. The 154 grain soft point Wolf is a very good, very inexpensive hunting ammo, which means...

How well does the Hornady SST round work on deer?

I've used both ballistic tips and SSTs (165 grain 30-06) on deer and the SST penetrates much better. I got an exit in all but one occasion out of eleven kills with the SST. I killed three this year with the ballistic tip and only got one exit and that was a neck shot.

How well does the Hornady SST round work on deer?

Re: the .243 SST on deer The caliber is light to begin with, so it makes sense that using a bullet that is known for a lot of expansion would give subpar results. Three inches is crazy shallow though! What are you using now? Maybe a Nosler Partition or Barnes X bullet would be a better...

How well does the Hornady SST round work on deer?

Very well in the 165 grain 30-06. Good penetration and lots of expansion.
