I would think you could lightly sand them and determine what finishing method you would need after sanding.

Leather by far. Let it mold to you. More comfortable.

what they said...I started making knives, then holsters and gun belts. trying to establish a retail base is hard. The majority of people don't want to spend money on quality, they are used to buying cheap shelf products. Ideally, you want to build a base of clients that appreciate hand made...

I'm guessing that pulling the knife out quickly might cause a fireball? If so, it adds to the dramatic effect for tv?

Last I knew, Jim had already sold the business and retired. He is at the store milling around and talking it up all the time though. I have knives to drop off for heat treat this weekend, if I remember, I'll ask...
