.308 Federal Power shock failure on deer.

Hello all, I have a Remington 7600 that started life as a .308 Win, but after test firing it to make sure it worked I had it rebored into a .358 Win which was my plan when I bought it.. Shot an elk and a whitetail with it, didn’t do anything I thought a .308 wouldn’t do, plus factory barrel...

    M&P 2.0 10mm trigger replacement.

Hello all, Have a full size M&P 10mm, love the gun but the trigger leaves a lot to be desired. Have considered replacing it with Apex aftermarket trigger, but the .45 trigger has a “not tested on 10mm” or some such disclaimer. I assume this is legal mumbo jumbo and should work just fine, but...

    7600 rebarrel.

Hello all. I have a late model Remington 7600 (ones with the crappy polymer bottom mags) that I bought as a .308 Win with the sole intention of reboring into a .358 Winchester, which I did. The rifle did not shoot well before or after it was rebored, but was good enough for a <100 yard stalking...

.358 Win 220 Speer FP loads.

Hello all. Apparently I am developing a mid-bore addiction. Have a 35 Rem load worked out as my introduction to reloading and seem to have immediately moved on to working something up for my .358 Win. Interesting little gun, is a rebored Rem 7600 with the barrel trimmed down to 19” wearing a red...

    Cranky .270 700 mountain rifle.

I have had a Remington 700 Miutain Rifle in .270 Win for about 25 years. It was rock solid for the first 10, then got a little twitchy. Barrel started requiring meticulous cleaning with limited range between "fouled enough" and "too dirty, then gummed the trigger up with WD 40 (it was the...

How good does a p220 really shoot?

I'm sure this will cause a bunch of unnecessary pain, but I'm going to ask anyway. Will start with why I'm asking. Looking to thin the heard a little and get myself down to one defensive pistol. Thought was going to be an old large frame revolver of my grandfather's, but gonna take too much...

    Springfield 1911 life.

Anybody have any experience with a Springfield Loaded 1911 in terms of how many rounds you can get out of one before they get wonky?

    S&W 27 shooting high.

I have Model 27 S&W that was my grandfathers. Shoots REALLY high (3 ft at 50 yards). Don't really want to alter the gun, but can't hit much with it either. Rear sight bottomed out, any ideas?

Shooting be hunting with aperture sight.

I have a recently new to me 336 Marlin in .35 Rem. Isn't a way to realistically get it shooting more than 150 yards and rarely a need to shoot more than 100 yards where I hunt, figured would save myself some trouble and just put a skinner aperture on it. Shoot well off the bench up to about 100...

    Selling firearms.

I can imagine the comments that are going to follow this question about the moral outrage of sending any of my guns to go live with somebody else out of shear desire to thin the heard, but that seems to be where I'm at. I have a bunch of guns, mostly handguns and military style semi autos, that...

    7600 mag problem.

The new "plastic bottom" 7600 mags are garbage, am sure you already know that if you are reading this thread. My 2 are no different. Think they need modified, just not sure what kind. Advice please. Mag #1- feeds fine off the right and 4th round off left, but last left round (2nd in mag) bolt...

    Low power scopes?

Is it a phygment of my imagination or is there a noticeable lack of low power rifle scopes that aren't designed to go on an AR or similar platform? Looking for something in the 1-4 or 1.5-5 range that is decent, light, and preferably American made. Any ideas?

TTSX 180 358 Win for elk.

I have a 358 Win 7600 Remington that shoots about everything at least OK, but got a couple boxes of Double Tap 180gr ttsx's because they were out of the 225gr Accubonds I had been shooting. Turns out, the gun LOVES them. Got them for whitetails, but as well as they shoot I feel I should at least...

    Horizontal string?

I have always had an issue pulling the occasional shot to the left (right handed) by forgetting to square up behind the rifle on virtually every non-AR rifle I've ever had. Not sure what is different about ARs, but never seems to have been a problem. As long as I take a minute to think about...

    Still with scope mount issues.

Posted a thread several weeks back about a Rem 7600 I was having issues with shooting WAY low. Advice was to try new scope mounts, put one piece Leupold bases and standard rings. I then lapped them and remounted the same scope. Good news it shoots less low than before (about 3" at 50 yards), but...

    Selecting proper scope ring height.

I recently got a Rem 7600 and mounted a 2-7 Leopold on it with a one piece gamer reaper low mounts. Gun shoots REALLY low. Maxed out elevation and still about 6 feet low at 100 yards. Logic would dictate that need different mounts, just not real sure where to go to from here. Thanks.

    Pump vs lever rifle.

I got interested in a 35 Rem last year after shooting my second deer with a buddy's after my 700 .270 decided to get a case of not shooting well for no good reason that it gets every 4-5 years (last time needed the crown polished). The 35 Rem is a 336 and is probably 50 years old- was his...

    I'm gonna puke.

Got all excited about my fist bedding job and got through inletting fine, always heard that was the hard part. Got the clay in and the stock damed up and comensed putting two big coats of the brownells gel release agent stuff on every metal part I could find, including action screws and holes...

    Release agent for bedding.

I am preparing to glass a mauser and am going to use Aluminum Devcon. I got some non-flammable Acra-release and just want to make sure this will work for the Devcon. Thanks!

Not another glass or aluminum bedding thread.

Just got a quote back from gunsmith for inletting a Mauser stock for Bold trigger with thumb safety, pillar bedding, and glassing action and barrel. Came in about $100 more than buying a Houge overmolded stock with full length alluminum bedding and pre inletted for that trigger, then glassing it...
