    Brass quality

Those high pressure calibers in pistol , Starline is a really good insurance purchase. The only new brass I have boughten was Starline in 40Super and 38Super. 45Super ,41Mag, and 10mm are good candidates also.

    Hornady die bushing rant.

The shims are because of the differences between deck heights between 2 separate mfg's presses(1 a progressive, 1 a SS) not because of anything that has to do with the bushings. The bushing are pricey but once you use them, you really learn to appreciate the quickness and ease of die removal...

Midway Has Federal LPP In Stock

Same around here with primers, still several cases of most styles at normal prices. The big online stores are still getting panic buyers grabbing ten years worth at once instead of just what is needed.

    Brass quality

The only downside with new/unfired brass is for many guns to get best accuracy they usually need to be fireformed to that gun anyways. I had one .243VLS that it was pointless in trying to get good groups(300+ yrds) until the brass was first fired in that gun once, then it shot great. I bought...

    Hornady die bushing rant.

I have the conversion in my Rock Crusher and made a .234"(IIRC) shim for under the adapter, This way my dies can be swapped from either press with no adjustments. Anyone needing one I can make you one or if you have access to a lathe. I am about 15 bushings short right now, I'm thinking I need...

    Understanding Bullet Selection

I get the twist rate of the barrel and that dictates what weight range of bullets I try. For medium game the soft points types works good, certain plastic tipped work also(E-tips) as long as they are designed for medium game and have thicker copper jacket to slow expansion, for elk or bear I...

    Rusty Dies So Quick!!!

I just put them in the stock container and give a quick squirt of silicon dry spray. If they stay on the turret I have oiled up my fingers(not dripping, just a light coating) ,then I rub the parts of the die that I touched. Spray wax would be another good option. I have 2 rifle sets that are now...

    Cast Bullet Quality

Rick, what size did you get? (.451, .452,or .453) If they happen to be over your barrel size, leading shouldn't be much if any of an issue. Its just not necessary to be that hard. Most 45's will be fine with .452, if not then they won't be able to seal as easy as a softer alloy. BDS, I like...

    Where to back order bullets.

Grafs and Sons, Mid South, Powder Valley. Midway is usually the most expensive when adding in "shipping charges". I seldom order anything from them because of that. What calibers you needing bullets for?

    Cast Bullet Quality

As long as you get the bullets that are at least .001"(up to .0025ish) over bore size harness won't make much of a difference. 12 bhn will shoot the same as 24bhn at the same fps. The only place where I've found harder is better is with certain caliber the harder grips better without skidding...

    More OAL questions.

I take a fired case and bump it with the sizer die(not run it through) so it lightly holds a bullet but can be pushed in with moderate pressure. I then chamber the dummy round and the bullet will get pushed in as the action locks up. Then carefully extract the round so as to not bump the bullet...

    Experience with Accurate #5

It's one of my favorite powders. #7 or even #9 may work better in the 10, but #5 is better in the other calibers. Why limit yourself to just one powder? the cost is the same, either way you need powder, why not just use one of the better powders for each caliber than to just have one that works...

    Who makes these bullets

They don't look like my Nosler hp's. They do look similar to Hornady XTP's except no crisp "shoulder" from the flat to the angle. My guess would be Remington hp's or even Winchester's, their bulk packaged bullets.

bare minimum to start reloading .45?

Don't go into this looking entirely at price and what is the cheapest way to go. Good quality will last and not have you constantly tweaking and making reloading a chore instead of fun. Some brands of equipment have a higher rate of defects or poor workmanship than others. Choose on quality and...

    Does 10mm Launch Brass?

I would think with a bit of playing around with the extractor claw and the nose on the ejector along with recoil spring change a person should be able to get the brass to stay resonably close. Maybe a short ejector so the brass barely hits it before the slide stops would work. Just have to make...

What Was the Powder Used During Early Vietnam?

The chrome plating was done after the problems became an issue. It was suppose to be a bandaid to keep things clean without a kit, IIRC. I wonder just how bad the guy that designed the m-16(Stein?? or something like that) wanted to use that gun on certain military officials !:fire: Those...

    Pay it Forward in Reloading

Farmerbuck, I have several rcbs shellholders, I can throw one in with your bullets if I have the right one. What size does the hole have to be?

Wet tumbling on the cheap? Yes! It can be done!

I put pins in my Lyman Twin vibratory, work good. The lemonshine I use just a dash and rinse very very thorough to stop any tarnishing.

How many FPS to not lead up the barrel?

I just about gave up worrying about hardness, I make sure all my boolits(proper term;)) are over barrel size(still have to make sure the barrel isn't bigger than the cones or throats on revolvers) and hardness is almost unimportant(almost). You can put GC's on non-GC bullets with certain GC's...
