    Marlin 39A cut the barrel????

Agreed. It seems I've already been (quietly) banned. At least on certain threads. No idea what is going on with THR but hopefully it will soon be worked out for the better.

    Pocket carry.

What Tallball and commygun said. A lot depends on your preferred style of dress and your physique, and a lot depends on the size and shape of the pocket. Bigger is not necessarily better if the gun gets whopperjawed or if the pocket is so deep the gun is banging into your leg or swinging...

How to blot out white banner on S&W Shield

I'd try the acetone as JT recommends, but would certainly take the slide off first just in case it wasn't safe with the plastic. Acetone is less toxic as solvents go i think. The most unsafe thing about it seems to be that fumes will pool on the floor if you spill it, and of course it is...

Keystone Overlander - single shot "pack" rifle

Pretty cool. I hadn't even known about the M4 survival rifle until yesterday when chicharrones mentioned it. Ended up going to a Wikipedia article about it, then got sucked down a rabbit hole reading a 1951 Popular Science magazine, with all the advertisements and everything. The Keystone...

What sort of belly band do you use?

What sort of belly bands are people wearing? I carry often, in my pocket mostly, and belt-holster carry sometimes, but in some circumstances such as light hiking, fitness walking, or lounging in sweatpants or whatever I use a belly band, but I'd like to get something better than what I'm using...

Is the S&W 442/642 the perfect pocket gun?

Just got my 442 last week, and haven't shot or even cleaned it yet. Might be tomorrow. I've wanted one for a long time, and have a Chief's Special, a 3" SP101 that I slicked up and love too, a Charter Bulldog I also like. I've also got a few pocketable semi-autos that I've carried, but as has...

    Obsolete calibers and cartridges.

I went looking for RCC and from what I can tell the firm is going through bankruptcy. Their website is no longer available, unless they've gotten a new domain. Seems a shame.

    Renaissance wax.

If I had a collection of vintage Marlins I would, at least on the metal. I do use it on my guns, knives, fine tools. Have a whole bunch of all the above I intend to rub down with it eventually. It's expensive but it goes on very thin and a little really goes a long way. No obnoxious fumes...

Vermont Laws - new ones passed legislature, Gov. ?

Look up "Slate Ridge" and there's your answer.

    442 finish questions

defjon must have read my mind as I was about to ask this exact question here just yesterday, but got impatient and went ahead and picked up the phone and ordered a 442 as I thought the dark finish made more sense for my uses. I've concealed several different small handguns over the years but...

Tell me a little about .35Whelen.

Never had one, have no real need for one, and probably never will have a .35 Whelen. But it has a certain charisma and I love reading other folks' opinions and experiences about this round. I suspect it will still be discussed and appreciated long after some other wildcat rounds have been...

    Winchester 61 or 9422?

For a fun gun my vote is for the 61. Pump action .22s are the cat's meow. I have two Rossi clones of the Model 62 (similar to the 61 but with exposed hammer), one in .22 LR that also takes shorts, and one in .22 mag. Great guns. Also have a nice Browning .22 lever action as well as other...

Finished my Beretta 1301 Tactical build!

Haven't seen it in person but when I saw it online I said wow. My 1301 is the first painted gun I've ever owned and I got the olive which is nice and understated. The tiger stripe is beyond gorgeous to my eye, as far as such things go.

Finished my Beretta 1301 Tactical build!

I also got a 1301 Tactical not too long ago and like it, no regrets. It's really nice. But if I were buying today for my needs and budget I probably would also get the A300 Patrol although I haven't yet seen one in person. I'm not one to trade off guns much so I'm "stuck" with my 1301. It...

    Why no pump rifles?

I'm just drawing from my own experience. It should be pretty obvious though, that racking a pump is all in line with the barrel, whereas working the lever introduces a lateral force roughly perpendicular to the barrel, which for me at least tends to pull the aim off the target. Different...

    Why no pump rifles?

I love lever actions, but I can't say that I agree with this at all.

    Midway USA foolishness

I really miss the catalogs, both from Brownells and Midway. It's a lot more fun than going through multiple webpages, especially for those times when you're looking for random inspiration or just don't want to stare at the screen anymore. I just contacted Midway a few days and asked if they...

    Ruger PC carbine

I saw that here on THR and decided to do the same, but then Ridgid came out with the 2.0 series toolboxes which have a nice provision for a padlock. Unfortunately none of the places I've seen that sell Kaisen foam inserts have introduced kits for the newer Ridgid 2.0 boxes, which have slightly...

    Rossi Levergun

The gold highlights are not usually really my style (I'd be terrified of scratching it) but I have to say: it's gorgeous! Congratulations. I got a CBC Rossi last year in .357. They're nicely made. I'd love to find another in either .44 or .45 Colt.
