eForm submitted April 5th, 2023. Still not here yet. Wrote my Senator, Ron Johnson and my House Representative, Tom Tiffany about the wait time and that sure did put some grease on the wheels. Stay in touch with your Congress Critters.
I understand what you're saying there 243. But I'm going for sub sonic. ...less than 1,000 fps. I am, by definition, WAY under pressure already. I need to have complete powder burn in 10.5 inches of barrel and launch at 1,000 FPS. I am going to try a slight pad of that Kopok over some VV...
I've heard of everything from saw dust to Cream O; Wheat. Kapok is a natural fiber from a tree. Sounds like that or cotton may be a way to start anyway.
Ya read about that too. Seems like the problem arrived from using Dacron buffers in older, smaller bore rifle barrels. Something about the hydraulics of melted Dacron exerting pressures behind d the bullet. Was recomended to use something that doesn't melt and turn to a fluid, stuff like cotton.
I have a 10.5 inch 450 Bushmaster Pistol on an AR platform. I want to load sub sonic as my Obsidian 45 will be getting out of BATF&E jail soon. I want to use a fast powder, but just enough to hit 1000 fps out of that 10.5 inches. I'm sure I'll have plenty of empty space in the case. I think...
There is no "milspec" for a 50 Beowulf. The bolt has been opened up to accommodate the case head so throw all this "MILSPEC" crap right put of this conversation. You need to know that you will not see high pressure signs if you're working up loads. The standards for these big bores are a...
Lasers are a short range, fast acquisition sight. Clamp your upper in a vice and with BCG removed sight through the barrel at a dot on the wall from across the room. If you can "aim through the bore" accurately enough you will be dang close. With the upper snug, adjsut your laser to the same...
Got here kind of late, but I've always heard that one has to buy when the price is high and sell when it's low.
Also you could take the one you have and put it in your dishwasher if you have one (I'm not talking about your wife). Then set it on the dash board of your truck in the sun. Google...
Ordered a custom, from Compass Lake. They know the issues and what I needed. They know A LOT. If you ever want expert, and I mean expert advice this is the place to go. I'm not just talking gas port from breach face distance. ....What ammo are you using? ....that round works best/should be...
There was an article a hundred years ago in Precision Shooting about finding the right combination for bullet weight, muzzle velocity, barrel harmonics, ....all based on caliber. For a .308 they came to the conclusion the optimal barrel length was 21 and a half inches for 168 grain Sierras in a...
Thanks. I got four sources now. Compass Lake is at the top because they have a Garand barrel, an M1A Barrel and one other AR-10 Armalite barrel for me a hundred years ago. I had forgotten about them until doing this search and some one reminded me of them. KeyStone is another, I'll add...
Here is what I am really after;
You can see by looking at the front sight base that it is too far forward. This is the Ballistic Advantage barrel that is a tad (.30 inches) short in order to accommodate the A1/A2 standard military hand guards. Mount an ACOG on that and it is the perfect...
