My only negligent discharge was one day when I was at the rifle range by myself so hot/cold was all in my mind. After shooting a few groups and checking targets I was thinking about something and I went 'Hot' without putting my ears back on. That 260Rem with muzzle brake shot from under a...
I pretty much load only long range precision rounds these days and I weigh every cartridge after powder loading. Every powder load must be +- 0.04gr of the target weight.
Academy had Remington Golden Bullets at $28/525 and $79/1400 over the last several weeks. Limit 1 box per person per day. I snagged ~6800 rounds over three weeks. I hadn't been able to find bulk 22lr for a decent price in several years. To celebrate I also bought an S&W Victory target...
S&W sw22 Victory 22lr target pistol. I've been wanting a 22lr target pistol for several years and the S&W Victory checks all the required boxes. That and I've finally been able to find 22lr in bulk at a reasonable price (5.7 cents/rd for Remington Golden bullets at Academy).
My best 'inexpensive' scope purchase was the Bushnell Elite 10X fixed scope. It was on sale at MidwayUsa for $200 and Bushnell had a $75 rebate on ALL Elite scopes. Net was $125. Great scope for $125. I have had 5 consecutive hits on the 6" plate at 1000 yds with it.
I saw an interview last night with the owner of Academy of Combative Warrior Arts. He said the only training the guy did was hand-to-hand on the ground combat.
I took my new 223 build to the range last weekend and everything worked great except I had a significant issue getting rounds to feed into the chamber. It's a (new from Northland Shooter Supply) Savage varmint action with a McGowen 223 barrel, PTG 223 bolt head in a Choate stock. I had the same...
If I'm loading 5.56/223 plinking rounds then I will mix brass and not worry about it, but if I'm loading 223 LRP rounds for my bolt action I use only Lapua brass.
I shoot a Precision Firearms LBC 264 upper with 20" barrel and Lapua Scenar 123s with Lapua brass. I found that the top accuracy node was around 2475 FPS with both CFE223 and IMR 8208 XBR. Going above 2500 FPS showed signs of 'hotness' with both powders.
I reload 98% for rifle rounds and I use a T-7. I use an RCBS universal primer for priming all my brass (actually I have two RCBS primers so I don't have to switch between large and small primer config). I like the T-7 because I can keep 2-3 calibers ready to go on a turret and I have 3 T-7...
