LOL Sorry bout that! Jack O'Conner was a mandatory read for me every summer when school was out. I'd lay on the bed in direct window unit A/C and read it during the hottest part of the day. Started when I was in 3rd grade he captivated me so much.
Driftwood, I am interested in the Schofeld caliber, can it be resized and seated with a 45 Colt die with adjustment (like a .357 die with .38 spl) or better if I get a new set of dies?
Very close in accuracy. BP is more consistent than most realize. Also, Do not use regular gun oil to clean or lube, as the petroleum products well adhere to the charcoal ash and make a hard tar. I found Ballistol mixed with water ala "Moose Milk" to be the easiest to clean with. Water is the...
No, just straight on the powder. The 35 grain load in modern cases will compress about a sixteenth of an inch generally with a 250 grain lead bullet. 40 grains just under an eighth of an inch.
Be sure to use a bullet lubed by an black powder lube such as SPG. The smokeless waxy lube can tar up...
I shoot 3FG until I'm out and then going to try 2FG in my .45 Colt Cimarron. A 40 grn charge of 3FG Olde Eynsford out of the 5 1/2 in barrel averaged 1027 FPS with 250 grn Big Lube.
If you have the Lee powder dippers use the 2.2cc for a 35 grain by volume for Black Powder and you will get a full compression load eqaulivent to the original 1873 spec load. 2.5cc will get you at 40 grains and need to drop it from a little height to pack it in with heavy crimp. Actual old load...
Water and tissue is not the same. Blood and cerebral-Spinal fluid are the only liquid state in the body. (Lymph and cellular as well, but in small volume related to body size). Most of the water in the body is in the organs and tissues, as well as muscle. The deformation of a bullet in water is...
And the hide and bones must be passed thru to get to organs.
Water is very hard on bullets causing them to expand to the max at every time, Water isn't equal to other things a bullet goes thru. It IS useful to make those picture perfect expanded bullets that some like to display.
IIRC the texts I've studied in class are: Lippincott's Illustrated Review of Biochemistry,
Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy, and also veterinarians. Some animals are denser or not as dense as human muscle and/or tissues.
The Strasbourg (sp?) tests done in the 80s or early 90s in where...
I have legal deafness now and can still function normally except for hearing TV and Movies. And electronic generated voice going into an electronic hearing aid is mushy to me, while a live voice is fine. I have to rely on Captioning and Subtitles for Deaf and Hard hearing for TV.
I take mine off as sweat and moisture under the muffs will; cause them to deteriorate fairly quickly. I also double plug and muff when rifle shooting. Now, if one goes off with them still in your ear, there will be less pain and damage as the hearing aid mold will block the sound pressure wave...
