I've got the pedersoli Rolling block in 357. Fun rifle. It's not the carbine. Found it at Cabela's of all places. It was an impulse purchase because I didn't have a rolling block and I like 357. Hell I've got a Ruger 77/357 I like a lot too. The usual lever actions from Rossi and Marlin...
I really like the 3rd Gen S&W's. I've got 5904, 3913, 3913TSW, and a 457. All boringly reliable. The 5904 I bought in '89 and who knows how many thousands and thousands of rounds its had through it. I don't take it out much anymore, but I still carry the 3913 once in a while.
I say go with the OEM Ruger mags. I do have promag 10 rounders that actually work though (sample size of 6). They are perfect in the American Ranch size wise and also work in my Mini-30.
This is my everyday carry gun. Put the DAO hammer on it. I always have this on me. I carry larger firearms a lot as well, but this one is just easy and way better than a sharp stick. If I don't want to bother the 32H&R gets the nod. I have a S&W 317 snub I've used on hikes. That thing is...
These are always such tough choices to whittle down. Here's my list at this moment.
1. Ruger Single Six 22LR/22WMR
2. Ruger Blackhawk Convertable .357/9mm
3. S&W 686+
4. Ruger MKII 22LR
5. CZ P07
I shorten most of mine. I'm a towering 5'5". LOP on most factory rifles and shotguns is too long for me. I have a few No. 1's I haven't because the wood is so nice.
I'm a .41 mag fan. My favorite gun show find was a 57-5 Mountain Gun. I had to keep the drool in my mouth even though it had the hillary hole. I haggled with the seller saying you know .41 mag isn't a very popular caliber hinting that if it was a .44 mag I would have bought it on the spot...
I have the Ruger 77/357 and like it a lot. I put in a trigger shims bolt shim in it and it improved the accuracy. Mine hates lighter bullets. 140gr and up and its a decent shooter. Not a tack driver, but that's not what I bought it for. Feeds SWC fine in .38spl and 357. I don't know if I...
I can't speak to the .458 bullet, but the Berry's .308 30-30 bullet works very well for me. All my 45-70 so far has been cast. I've used a variety of their handgun bullets with success as well.
Wow 6-8 MOA. Mine was 5-6 MOA before I put an accustrut on it. After the accustrut a pretty consistent 3 MOA. Here's a pic of me zeroing the Red Dot on my late '80s Mini. Still one of my favorites.
Why does it always turn into a pissing contest. I have and like both AR's and Mini's. I bought my first Mini-14 in 1989 because it was a lot cheaper than an AR. I still own it and like it. This is pre ranch model. I also have a Mini-30, and a Ranch Rifle. If I'm shooting off of a bench the...
I have an original Vaquero in 44mag and the Super Blackhawk w/ 7.5" barrel. Neither one bruises me. I have buddies that have shot them and depending upon how they grip and hand size one or the other bruises them. I haven't shot either one in a long time. My big bore go to is a 5.5" Blackhawk...
I went in a different direction. Started w/ S&W 60 -> 442. Got an LCR in .38 spl and liked it better. Added the 3" LCRx. Then Ruger came out with the .327 LCR (Make a 3" please Ruger). Extra round but frame is heavier the the 38spl version. I would switch between the LCR's. Took a chance...
I didn't either. With that aging eyes thing I now use red dots. Makes shooting them a whole lot easier to actually hit what I'm aiming at. If the barrel is long enough I can still see the front sight, but the shorter ones not so much.
I really like Will Ghormley's patterns. I've done a couple of slim jims, cheyenne, Johnny Ringo, and a few others. I think my next leather project is going to be the Hand of God rig for my 1911.
The cheap scale I bought of of amazon seems to work just fine. I've had it a couple of years. Check weights are always spot on when I check it. I just have to make sure its warmed up. I think the thing was around $20.
I also double check with my beam scale one in a while.
I have the Model P Jr. in 38spl. It is smaller than a SAA. It's about the same size as a single six. They make a convertible JR in 32H&R/ 32-20 as well. Single 7 or Single 6 in 32H&R would also fit the bill. I own those as well.
