What cause accuracy and inaccuracy in a pistol round?

If one wants extreme accuracy, follow Ely's lead. On their match cartridges, they visually inspect each round and weigh each round so that all the cartridges in a box are the same. Of course, price what that box will cost you vs off the shelve plinking ammo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What cause accuracy and inaccuracy in a pistol round?

Factory loads are run on tolerances. If you buy a box of cartridges, disassemble and weigh the bullet and powder separately for each one in the box, you'll probably not find two completely identical. Better manufacturing = better tolerances = higher costs. How accurate do you need to be? Sent...

Glock practice pistols for law enforcement only?

1.Someone will always want what they can't legally own. 2. Doesn't have to be logical or economically reasonable. 3. If you want a training Glock, go to Wallyworld and buy a Crosman CO2 Glock and train away. 4. Being shot by a BB most likely would be the same pain level as simunitions. 5...

question about 1911 speed hump or memory bump

I have short fingers and never ride the safety. Doesn't seem to bother me or the gun. As for the grip safety, the Texas Rangers in olden days used to wrap the grip with wet rawhide. When dry, safety nullified and textured grip. The best part of 1911s is the ability to fit to the owner, unlike...

    Improved vision?

My rule of thumb - one eye for bullseye, two for defensive training. Defensive shooting should be about hitting target center quickly, not all in the bull. My son was a bullseye target shooter; at the LEO academy his instructor told him taking time to bullseye will get you dead. Center mass is...

    Improved vision?

Yes - opaque. That lens will be blurry but can still see objects to avoid. I am left-handed and I used this method until I could train my left eye to be dominant while shooting; tape on right lens. Learned it while attending NRA Pistol instructor training Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Recommended .380 bullet for defence?

The Army used to test with animal carcasses. Has anyone actually tested the .380 on a pig? Not concerned with unrealistic head shots at a moving target. As for penetration, center mass until perp drops or empty mag- reload if necessary.

    Improved vision?

Another trick is to cover with scotch tape the nonshooting lens of shooting glasses. Enhances the focus with the shooting eye. One of the Preferred methods for blocking out the opposite side dominant eye without affecting peripheral vision. SgtUSMC, Viet Vet (in country), AmLegion, VFW...

Can a philips head screwdriver punch through body armor?

Seems I read somewhere the 9mm was adopted by NATO to defeat vests current at the time. FN 7(?) rounds can readily go thru. The sharper the bullet, easier to penetrate. Wonder about TCM22s. They told my LEO son in training that his vest is no defense against an edged weapon. Ice pick should go...

SP101 stock grip or hogue rubber

Had a Rossi 2" snubnose .357. After 1 box of ammo with stock grips, my hand was in pain and red. Ordered Pachmeyer grips; able to shoot a box of ammo and have no pain or numbness. Best grips ever. SgtUSMC, Viet Vet (in country), AmLegion, VFW, LifeNRA, DAV
