    Pre 28 Highway Patrolman

I stopped at the LGS looking for powder, and walked out with a 1955 N frame Highway Patrolman in .357! It was my birthday so I couldn't walk away empty handed. Paid a little more than I wanted too, but it really doesn't matter....this thing is sweeeeet!

    .222 rem mag C.O.L. problem

I am loading a batch of .222 rem mag for a Remington 700. I'm using hornady 52 gr bthp and aa2015. The 8th edition hornady manual says C.O.L. max is 2.280" for this caliber, but gives a C.O.L. of 2.325" for this bullet. What gives? I loaded a dummy and chambered it and came up with a 2.300"...

Once in a lifetime at the range today

I took a friend to the range today with his first rifle (brand new shooter). He bought a Stevens 200 in .243 with an entry level scope. I spotted for him at 100 yards to help sight the scope in. After sighting at 100 he decided to shoot one at 200 yards and proclaimed the scope wasn't...

    Optics for target rifle

I'm planning a build for my first long range rifle. Recently I've joined a club with a 600 yard range, 400 yards farther than I've ever shot. I'm going to build my Savage 110 LA 30-06 for the task, but have NO idea where to start with optics. There are so many choices of power, reticle, diameter...

    Iowa HF384 to legalize suppressors

We here in Iowa are one of only 11 states that do not allow the ownership of suppressors. We are trying to change that now. HF384 has passed committee and is heading to the floor for consideration. We would appreciate your support from inside or outside of Iowa. This would be a big step for Iowa...

    Any .222 rem mag reloaders?

I've got a .222 rem mag Remington 700 that I've never shot. I've been putting together components to load for this rifle. On hand I have IMR 4198, starline brass, and Hornady 50gr "z-max" mega zombie killer bullets (cheaper than v-max haha). Any advise on bullet weights or powder charges? Any...

    .45LC bullets in .45 auto

Locally the shortage has not eased up so I bought a box of Suter's Choice 200gr round nose flat point .452 lead bullets designed for .45LC. These bullets have a cannelure (sp?) so I have a few questions. Going in a 1911. Federal 150 primers, Winchester 231 powder. I'm mainly concerned about an...

    Any Savage 110 builds?

I've got an older pre-accutrigger LA 110 in 30-06 I was thinking of modifying. I have aspirations of a 600-1000 yard rifle. I have shopped around and there doesn't seem to be much aftermarket support for this kind of build. Anybody have one? Sources for parts? Maybe I just need to pick a...

    S&W 642 cylinder question

How smooth are all of your 642 cylinders when spinning or rotating out of the gun? My brother and I have matching 642-1 Airweights that have both been heavily carried for years. His spins silky smooth like all my other Smiths do, but mine is very rough in comparison. Not sure if I need to be...

Two more SxS added to my safe

Not sure how many people are in love with these dinosaurs, but I just can't get into tacticool shotguns. These are part of a large collection I acquired from a WWII Iwojima Marine. Really an honor to keep these going. I have his uniform, pictures, purple heart, and many other neat artifacts. Now...

    .308 Garand loads

Hi guys and gals, I am new to reloading and have a few questions. I have a garand that has been rebarreled by fulton armory in .308. Its a fine shooter but I'm not sure where to start with my handloads. I've heard garands don't like modern high pressure rounds, would this be different since its...

    Ithaca SBT experts?

I've got an Ithaca Knick SBT 12 gauge grade 5e. The serial number 4018XX dates to late 1929. I contacted Ithaca and they could not supply any additional information (ie original purchace order) due to ownership change. Does anybody know how I can get more info or history on this gun?

Model 12 saved from scrap heap

I got this gun from an older gentleman who was going to throw it away due to many years of neglect. He inherited it from his uncle over 20 years ago and has never touched it since. I know it isn't worth much, but it makes a nice truck gun and keeps it alive to fight another day. Before...
