So it's about time for me to make a bulk order of primers. I usually buy 10,000 each small pistol and small rifle.
I usually get CCI but low prices on other brands has me thinking.
If i went with another brand, what do you guys/gals think of S&B, Wolf or Tula. Out of those 3, which would...
So my Glock 19 Gen 4 semi-failed on 2nd trip to the range. The slide lock lever fell out and gun malfunctioned. I dd some research and it looks like a known issue. Research says Glock replaced the slide lock spring with a new model that has more tension so i ordered one instead of paying $60...
Where is all of the pistol powder. I went to 4 stores today and been watching a dozen websites continually for months. The stores and online have plenty of rifle powder but zero pistol. It's like fairy dust again.
So i've pretty much settled on the Nikon P-223 rifle scope for my 16inch AR-15. What I am having trouble deciding is whether to get the fixed power 3X32 or the variable 3X9X40. Any thoughts?
I plan to use the rifle mostly for just punching paper at 50 and 100 yard range.
Has anyone found a good load that cycles an AR reliably with 55gr FMJ projectiles? I found some 4198 but i'm reading that some people have trouble with cycling with start loads. My books tell me:
18.8 - 20.4 IMR website and Lee manual
17.4 - 20.0 Hornaday manual
19.0 - 21.7 Lyman manual
What a pain. Seems like more and more once fired ends up having crimped primers. Such a bummer to deal with. Seems like it won't be long and we will have to swage every piece just like .223 just to be sure to catch it all.
I'm interested in hearing how others deal with military primer crimps on 9mm (or .223/5.56) with regard to the workflow on a progressive press.
I'm using a Dillon 550.
I was thinking of buying another toolhead and a universal decapping die. The toolhead would only have the decapper die...
Kinda cool to see reloading on TV. Guys on Alaska - The last frontier were reloading rifle, looked like 30-06. They had IMR 4064 and a turret press of some type.
I got a box of Dynamic Research 9mm 85gr HP for xmas and i'm not quite sure what they are good for. Are these for personal protection? I've never seen them nor was I aware of an 85gr round in 9mm. On the + side, the brass seems to be good and certainly will be reloadable.
Ready for the range. 6 different loads, 2 powders.
Latter loads of 3.8, 4.0. 4.2 BE with 124gr Xtreme roundnose plated.
Latter loads of 4.4, 4.6, 4.8 HP-38 with 124gr Precision Delta FMJ.
I'm about to load a bunch and according to my books, 4.4 - 4.8gr is what i should use for these 9mm 124gr FMJ RN with HP-38.
Anyone out there tried this combo and what was your load and results?
I will try 4.4 and work up of course. Shooting in G19.
So i've been contemplating future powder orders and I'm considering consolidating down to 2 powder types for all my needs. Seems like this would be cheaper and i could buy in 8lb containers instead of using different 1lb bottles for each caliber.
Currently I use:
38 special - Bullseye
357 Mag...
Will 125gr 9mm Lead rounds still be effective in a protection situation? I'm not talking about a self defense carry situation, i would use factory gold dots or Hornady Critical Defense for that. But i'm talking about stockpile SHTF situation where you wanted mass amounts of effective ammo on...
What are your favorite load data webpages? Here are mine:
http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/index.aspx
http://www.reloadammo.com
http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
I use them all of the time, along with THR to validate and verify data from various manuals.
