    Bersas

I think the price is going up because people are realizing what a great gun Bersa makes. Had a thunder .380 that I sold to my brother because he needed a gun for his wife. If she ever out-grows it it's mine agian.:D

Looking for first CCW handgun. .380 vs. .40.

180 grain bullet at 1000 fps or 90 grain bullet at 1000 fps. .40 is litterally like firing the .380 twice. Double the power but double the recoil. In a small gun that is obviously a considerable difference. .40 cal guns are beefier in order to handle it but still the recoil is sharp. I love...

    40 cal question

Well I didn't drop my .40s but I did pick up a Glock 26 for carry. With concealed carry becoming more popular even .380 acp has made a huge comeback. Some people can shoot very well with sub-compact .40s, I've seen this frist hand. From my perspective, I prefer a 9mm from a small CC gun. I still...

    Why not 45 super?

Calaverasslim - .45 acp and .45 super have identical outer demensions. 45 super brass was formed from the .451 detonics. It handles higher pressures.

    Why not 45 super?

I like 10mm too hentown but there is one big difference. When you compare 10mm to 40sw, the 10mm is a longer cartridge that requires a larger gun and that is why .40 has a need. This is not the case with .45 super. You don't have to dump more powder into a 45 super. It can be a 45 acp in every...

    Why not 45 super?

If there's one handgun cartridge that I wish would catch on, this is the one. I know 45 acp is the "sacred cow" but to me, 45 super is the same cartridge...updated. I don't think 45 super is better because it's more powerful, but because it has the capabilty to be. It could replace 45 acp and...

.40 S&W vs. 357 Sig. Which is better?

I have a Glock 31 and a Ruger SR40. I had a G22 with both barrels years ago. I have a lot of experience with these two. I reloaded 357 sig years ago untill I got frustrated with it. I have recently started reloading it again now that I have much more experience and it has gone well. I like...

    9mm VS. 357 Sig. FOR HOME/SELF DEFENSE?

Go with a 9mm or .40. From my own reloading adventures I've found that .40 can do anything 357 sig can do with lite bullets and out-performs it with heavier bullets. I personally like using sub-sonic loads for the bed side. A 147gr 9mm or 180gr .40 would be just the ticket. I LOVE the 180gr...

Best bang for the buck deal on .40 S&W pistol?

Recently bought the Ruger SR40. wonderful gun. I always thought Rugers were bulky and ugly. The new SR series guns thin and reay nice looking. Sweet trigger too. Built from ground up for .40, not a rebarreled 9 mm. Softer recoil than my glock 22.

Anyone point an "unloaded" gun at you?

When I was about 15 or 16 I was at a friends house. He comes walking out of his parents room with his dads 357 pointing and waving it around. he points it right at me and says "it's not loaded", proceeds to dry fire it. I dove behind a chair, best cover I could find. I never forgave him for...

    .357 vs black bear

You mentioned your dog. I think a dog would be an excellent defence against a bear. Even a small dog. Dogs have senses that we can appreciate and a warning "alarm" is a wonderful advantage in the woods. There is a funny video above of a common house cat chasing off a black bear. Animals react...

What's the point of .357 Sig?

I like 357 sig quite a bit. I reload it and it is a bit more difficult being necked down but not bad. I enjoy shooting it and I advise anyone who does to learn to reload because ammo is steep. I call it my 9mm magnum and it has a slightly more pronounced muzzle blast but really that is...

    Winchester Silvertip Question

The Silvertips in .40 are a hard hitting load at 1205fps/500 ft lbs. They expand like crazey and probably don't offer the penitration LE s prefer.

    Where to buy ammo?

I buy Blazer brass .40 at Walmart in 50 round boxes. They are 7.94 at my local WM. They acually are a few cents cheaper than the Winchester value pack wich is like 15.97 per 100 and I like the Blazer better. The Blazer is more expensive in 9mm for some reason, so I buy Winchester VP in 9mm.

    Real world ballistics - 2.75 inch .357 vs .40 S&W Glock 23

Get the G23. Go to doubletapammo.com. They have a 200gr Hornady XTP that will do 1050fps from a G23. That should do better than a 357 from such a short barrel.

    Cold ammo?

I'm thinking...sightly lower pressure and slightly less velocity. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I think it'd be interesting to chrono some ammo at very different tempatures and see the results. If I get one I'll do it. In the summer the temp in my truck gets to 120F or so...

Thinking about a S&W Model 37 for CCW..

I got my 37-2 new less than two years ago. I love it but I dropped it a while back like an idiot, it landed on concrete and scratched the cylinder a bit. It's a great shooter though. I carry +p lswc and practice with Win white box fmj. I carry it IWB. I like having the hammer and single action...

Light & Fast or Heavy & Slow?

    I prefer 155-165gr @ about 1200+ fps from my .40sw pistols. I guess this would be medium/medium?

    Resting condition of your semi-auto's?

My G22, bedside/HD gun is loaded, 15+1 with spare 10 rd mag on night stand. Only other loaded gun in my house is my SW mod 37 snub, which I keep loaded for CCW. The rest of the guns are unloaded as are thier mags. The G19 and Sig p228 are winter carry guns, and may be loaded from time to time...

.32 and .380, FMJ or JHP?

Currently FMJ in both .32 and .380. I like the flat point FMJ in .380 for a little more damage? I don't know though, I flip flop on this issue. If there were a 125gr .380 load, even if it was realy slow, I think JHP would be fine. The sectional density at 90-102gr stinks at 9mm caliber. Of...
