Yeah I've heard about that problem too, bullet setback from repeated chambering. That makes sense, and I could see that happening.
But is there also a possibility that you could render your round useless by damaging the primer from repeated chambering? Which in my opinion, could put you in...
Thanks. I'm actually not even going to be using the 135 grain Hydra Shoks. The ballistics test was less than impressive (to put it mildly) so they are with my "surplus SHTF" ammo collection at my other house. The ammo I currently carry was readily available 6 months ago, but now I am not sure...
Ok I know this topic is not exactly "new", but I have a few questions about the responses I've been reading in other forums when people ask things like, what is the best carry ammo, and how often should you rotate your carry ammo, etc...
First let me explain my carry situation. I bought a box...
Idk about in other states, but in Texas, as I have been told personally by the office of one of these committe chairs, when a bill is in a committee like this, each call supporting or opposing it is recorded and this is one of the main factors they use to determine whether to allow the bill to...
I've pretty much given up with forwarding the reps emails from NRA or GOA, or TSRA, now if I don't have time to pick up the phone and CALL, I just don't bother.
With that being said, I suggest anyone who lives in Texas (and even some who don't, stupidity spreads like the plague), to take 10...
@ ball3006 that's what I was thinking. Then again I've only shot birdshot at a duck and a paper target. Blew a hole the size of a basketball in that paper target at 25 yards. So I couldn't help but wonder what it would do to a thug at 10 yards or less.
Obviously this would be a last...
My cousin and I are planning to inventory all his guns, ammo, and reloading components over this coming weekend. We're expecting it to take a little while lol....he's got more than the average person I'll just leave it at that.
I have a question about bird shot, since it is one of the most readily available and least expensive loads out there today. I have heard from quite a few people that birdshot (although not as devastating as buckshot), can pack quite a punch and can be excellent for home defense.
If this is...
I have the same problem using those primers on my 38 and 357 handloads. That's why I don't rely on handloads for SD, they are strictly range ammo. Usually the primer isn't seated deeply enough and the firing pin merely pushes it in all the way, rather than applying the adequate amount of force...
I carry 100% of the time. I rarely go into "gun free" zones and have boycotted MANY businesses because of their refusal to respect my right to carry a gun. I have a Texas CHL and in TX, open carry is not allowed (BS I know). But considering I live in a city of 5 million I'd probably keep it...
Any gun is too much blast for unprotected hearing, ESPECIALLY a 357. I'm no expert but I'd say anything shorter than a 3" barrel makes it kinda pointless to shoot the 357 magnum. You might as well go with 38 special for a snub nose. Mainly because it'll kick like a mule when you shoot it but...
Ruger GP100. I've shot them both in the same range trip and the less expensive GP100 outperformed not only the 686, but the Colt Python, in pretty much every way.
I'll even go so far as to say my GP100 is my favorite gun I've ever shot. Accuracy is superb and it is built like a tank.
Makes...
My 2 Revolvers
Just couldn't pass up an opportunity to show some fellow gun enthusiasts my revolvers. Although there are many like them, these are mine, and even though I own a few Glocks, a Mossberg 500 and maybe even a "military style assault weapon with high capacity ammunition magazine...
I use Unique, 5.8 grains (if I"m not mistaken) for a 158 grain LSWC. 357 magnum.
Have been using regular small pistol primers and Unique for my 357 loads but will eventually try a new powder with magnum primers. Although I'm pleased with the Unique (except the mess it makes), I know there...
Unfortunately, I believe this fight will never be over. It's a sad day when our elected government are so busy trying to unravel the very set of principles they were elected to uphold, they let the rest of the country go to hell in a handbasket. And have still yet to actually come up with a...
I am loading on a Lee Classic Turret, Single Stage. I want a trimmer that is fairly easy to use, trims well, and doesn't cost a fortune.
Same thing with the primer reaming tool. Any recommendations on those?
Thanks for the advice thus far.
Are these worth what they are charging for them...
Hello everyone,
I'm new here. I posted in the intro thread yesterday. Anyway, I've been loading 9, 40, 38 and 357 for about a year now.
And am now slowly but surely gathering everything I need to load 556. Never loaded for a rifle before (it's for an AR15).
I have a few questions about...
New member from TX
Hello, my name is Mag_357TX, and as you might have guessed, I am from Texas, Houston to be exact. Have heard good things about this forum so I decided to join.
