Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Here's my contribution to helping control central texas hogs. Shot with 300 blk at 80 yds with 130 gr hog hammer ammo. Shredded the heart.

Do all 308 - thinking Savage scout or hog hunter?

Hog Hunter is solid I bought a Hog Hunter in .308 and I really like it. First, I love the .308 round for hogs. Bang-flop. Second, the iron sights are easy-to-find for target acquisition. Good stuff if the hog starts to move. Third, the weight is maybe a pound more than others (I guess) but it...

Butt stock ammo carrier stain removal

UPDATE -- Unfortunately no luck. The #0000 and even some #00 did not take the goo off, nor has goo gone, nor has toothpaste. The stuff must have gotten baked in there good. It's hot here in Texas. So I guess this rifle can become a field gun for me and maybe I'll someday either sand it all down...

Butt stock ammo carrier stain removal

Not sure on the type of finish. Remington told me the gun was made in 2000. I haven't tried the Liquid Gold or Goo Gone but I will. Also thinking about refinishing with Tru Oil. Seems like good results from the YouTube vids I've watched. Thoughts?

Butt stock ammo carrier stain removal

Please help. I need advice. How can I clean some sort of residue that seeped into the grain of this walnut stock, apparently from a butt stock ammo carrier? The walnut on this Rem 700 is beautiful. I just need to gently clean that area. See photo. I've tried Lemon Pledge wood polisher and...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

hey, I did not weigh this guy when I shot him last December. Don't have a scale that large ;-) Any guesses on weight? https://1drv.ms/i/s!AsOC3YKqu76-g9EhpMWPS9iOjvTs_Q The dogs around him were in the 75-95 pound range. They were along for the ride and did not help with finding that brute.

    Budget Semi-Auto Deer Gun?

I love my Woodsmaster 742 Just my $0.02 -- I got a Woodsmaster 742 in .308 as part of a trade and I didn't know any of the criticisms it has been given. All I know is that I've put about 30 rounds through it, to zero my scope and get a feel for it. I love it. I've killed deer with it. I've...

    Hog hunting

I think you are absolutely correct. I think my first shot was too close to the ear. Look at the video here http://www.scout.com/outdoors/texas-hunt-fish/story/1441142-texas-hog-hunt-with-silencer It looks like the shot has to be a couple of inches below the ear. I think mine was higher. It...

    Hog hunting

This one had stopped the dance but was still breathing. Labored breathing, no doubt, but breathing. I figured it was only a matter of a few more minutes but I thought a second shot to the head would stop that. It did. Thoughts?

    Hog hunting

I put a second bullet in its head. The first one in its head dropped it there but it kept breathing for a minute so I shot it a second time in the back of the head, thus all the blood.

    Hog hunting

Ha, yeah, the dogs were left in the truck when I went out looking for deer and hogs that day. After I shot it, I went back to the truck and brought it near to where the hog was. The dogs "helped" me gut it out. They have gotten onto hogs though in the past. I missed one boar one time and two of...

    mossberg rifle question

i have the mossberg atr 100 in .308 with buckmaster 3-9. Really a great rifle. Light in the field. Consistently accurate. Better than the savage axis I had.

    Mossberg or Savage?

I liked the ATR better than the Savage The Axis 30-06 really sent waves down the stock when I shot it. I sold it. The Mossberg .308 is accurate and solid. I really like its accuracy. with a 3x9 buckmaster, this is a great field gun.
