whats the hardest round you've loaded?

.22TCM for me. It's the only pistol cartridge I have to trim, and getting the case sized properly can be challenging. I still haven't gotten it figured out. I can make usable ammo but it's not consistent. Yet.

What is your most accurate .38 Special load?

125 grain lead SWC with 2.7 grains of Clays, 1.440" oal. Runs about 800 fps from a 5" barrel.

The One(s) You DON'T Regret Trading or Selling

Jennings Nine. Stolen, not sold, by my ex's druggie kid. Its mag would come loose after nearly every shot. Hope the a-hole sold or traded it to some gang-banger who went to use it and after one shot just got a "click" and then was liberally ventilated. Unfortunately, he also stole a Colt King...

    Found some powder

Sure am glad I laid in a bunch of powder after the last shortage, and don't have to pay the current prices... Actually been thinking of selling some. I could ask halfway between what I paid and what it's selling for now, and there would be two happy reloaders.

Lyman brass smith 8 hole turret press

Mine is solid, no wobble. I have it set up for .38 and 9mm. The only thing I don't like is the primer tube won't always hold the primers when you're loading it up. Maybe I need a new tube, but I don't know where to order one.

    Manual

Lee is the one I reach for first, and Hornady second. I have several others I use for comparison on new loads.

Well Here's a Boneheaded Move for You

According to QuickLoad, both loads are well within max pressure of 35k psi. The 1.115 load shows pressure of just over 26k psi. So even accounting for variations in projectile (plated vs. fmj, for example) you should be fine. The longer load calculates out to about 1130 fps and the shorter load...

Rarity of a blued king cobra

Last blued King Cobra I saw was in my gun cabinet before my ex's druggie son broke in and stole it (along with a Luger and several other guns). It was a beauty. Still hold out hope that it will be confiscated by a cop someday and returned.

    Favorite .45acp powders & loads

What are you loading for? Target shooting, defense, plinking? I load mainly for bullseye target shooting, with 200 grain SWC bullets and WST or Bullseye powder. I have a light recoil spring, and load them down a bit for a soft recoil while maintaining function. If you're loading mid- to...

How to price used reloading equipment?

If you're anywhere near a shooting range, go see if they have a bulletin board to post a notice on. You'll likely find buyers, and could find one that will buy the entire lot for a good price if you are willing to be flexible and want it all gone as soon as possible. If your brother had a...

Getting started, what equipment do I need?

I have also never trimmed .38 or .32 cases, for what it's worth. A tumbler and corncob media works to clean your empties. Start saving your used dryer sheets and throw one in with each batch of dirty brass to pick up some of the dirt and keep the static down. The lee balance scale is okay, but I...

    148gr HBWC Powder Choice

As others have said, having the case seal is not something I would worry about. The Hornady HBWCs are a great bullet, but I do not use Titegroup under them. Titegroup burns hot and with lubed lead you'll likely get more smoke than with other powders. If you're just plinking, so problem, but with...

    Century Arms Canik TP9SF...

Buddyd, do try the heavier projectiles. I had a TP9SF and have a TP9SFX, and neither liked light projectiles. But they ran fine with 135 grain and heavier bullets. I load them with 135 or 147 grain Xtreme heavy plates and a near-top-end load of either AA #5 or Power Pistol, and the failures to...

    Lyman Multi-Caliber Handgun Cartridge Gauge?

I have one, and it works just fine. I use it to check the finished rounds when I set up for a different bullet. Necessary? No. Nice to have? Yes.

    Flash suppressed powder recommendations?

Promo is Red Dot without the color flakes, and cheaper. Use the same weight, not volume, since it has a slightly different density without the color flakes. I use a lot of Red Dot and Promo in shot shells and .45 auto.

Opinions on the Lee factory crimp dies.

I like it. I have a Blackhawk in .45 auto that has pretty tight chambers and if I don't use the FCD some rounds don't fully fit. With he FCD they all fit perfectly. I use one with most calibers I load. Worth every penny IMO.

    Looking for a economic/plinking 44 Mag bullet

I haven't found a better bullet at a better price than Brazos Bullets. They have coated 240 grain SWCs for under 10 cents a bullet and 225 grain round nose flat point for 9 cents each. Packed in bags of 15 lbs.

    Alliant American Select

I've used up most of a pound of American Select on 38 ammo. It is consistent and burns quite clean. I like it. It meters well through my Hornady L&L powder meter. If I could find it on the shelf of my LGS, I'd buy another pound. Supposed to be good with shot shells too.

    Reloading for caliber you own?

Everything but the rimfires, .22lr, .22mag, 17HMR. That leaves me at about 18 calibers in rifle and pistol, plus 12 and 20 gauge shotgun. I enjoy it all, save money on each round fired (we don't save money reloading, really, since most just shoot more and invest in supplies), and make ammo that...

Best way to weight the charge of a cartridge?

Sounds like time to invest in a Grip-N-Pull bullet puller. https://grip-n-pull.com/ Great for rifle calibers, and for pistol bullets that give you something to grab (i.e., not wadcutters).
