    22LR single shots

Just to be clear, are you calling the new Marlin Model 60 I bought him (see last post of page 1) a POS? It doesn't scream heirloom, sure, but it cycles well, it's accurate, and I don't see any fit and finish issues. He absolutely loves it and I enjoy shooting it too. Shopping around from place...

    22LR single shots

Well he loved the Marlin Model 60 and his confidence and shooting went through the roof. On his best tube of the day, he got all 14 shots in a six inch target and half of them inside a two inch group from seven yards. Most importantly, he had fun with it, could load it himself and handle it...

    22LR single shots

He looked at the Rascal and similar ones and it turns out they're physically too small for him. He has a lot of hand strength issues (long story) but he's big for a 10-year-old so it just wasn't a good ergonomic fit. He tried a bunch of different 22s to see what fit him, and we ended up...

    22LR single shots

I took my boys shooting today for the first time. My older son does GREAT with our Savage Model 7a--he's a natural and had a blast. My younger son really enjoyed shooting it too, but he currently lacks the hand strength to load magazines all afternoon or to charge the 7a (which has a small...

Soft Shooting, Easy to Rack, Good Sights Suggestion

Another vote for the S&W EZ .380. Someone mentioned revolvers. I think the double-action trigger on my SP101 requires at least as much strength as racking the 1911 I previously owned, so I'm not sure that's the best choice.

Hi Point pistols, well worth the money!

Until a recent court decision, some public housing prohibited firearms. https://affordablehousingonline.com/blog/federal-court-overturns-gun-bans-public-housing/

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

Thank you! Me too. It's going to be a lot of dry fire drills at home for the next couple months, but once this pandemic thing ends, this gives me a lot of useful info to help my shopping. In particular it's gotten me interested in trying to find a used compact that fits me instead of a new...

Has Ruger ever made an attractive, iconic firearm?

Ruger Mark IV by Mitlov posted Apr 26, 2020 at 10:14 PM I got my Ruger Mark IV with a 7" fluted barrel not because I'm good enough to benefit from that barrel-- I'm not--but because I think it's just gorgeous with the total package of that barrel, stainless steel, and wood grip panels. Like...

    Mini vacay from COVID

Envious! The range near me is closed down for the moment.

Decisions, decisions (another "what to buy" thread)

You'll love it! Check to see if your serial number is subject to the Mark IV recall. Not that the recall really worries me (it's an incredibly complex series of actions that would cause the gun to fire, not something that would happen accidentally), but I think they give you a free extra mag...

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

Thanks for the suggestion of the Cheetah! I'd never heard of it before and it was really interesting to read up on it. However, I don't want to buy online without personally handling it, since I want to make sure something feels good-in-hand. Also, from looking online, I don't think the...

I have a Ruger Mark IV and it's a load of fun. Super easy to break down for cleaning too.

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

If this turns into any sort of apocalypse scenario, I'll just rely on the revolvers, 22s, and shotgun that I already have and am already comfortable with. I think this is going to be like the 1918 influenza, though, where it's going to be a rough year but then normalcy will return...

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

Normally I would do just that. But my local range is closed due to the pandemic, the classes I'm interested in are on hold until after the pandemic, gun stores are very low on inventory, and it seems unfair to gun store staff to touch and handle everything they still have in stock if they're...

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

Out of curiosity, how? Do you carry it safety on and deactivate with the support hand? Or carry with safety off, just using it as a decocker?

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

I'm definitely not an experienced pistol guy. I never shot at all until this past decade, and a lot of my shooting has been single trap. When it comes to handguns, most of my shooting has been with revolvers and a 22LR target pistol. I'm not an experienced shooter and didn't mean to suggest that...

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

I hear what you're saying, but on the other hand, what about the idea of fighting how you train? The purpose of me attending the classes would not be competition prep or anything like that, but instead taking my practical skills beyond just solo range training. If my defensive gun isn't going...

    Subcompact DASA or DAO recommendations/warnings?

This is a really great analogy. Let's run with it for a minute. If a PX4 Subcompact is like a snubnose L-Frame, you're right to point out that it's not going to be any better for me to handle than an L frame with a full length barrel. But I don't think the answer should be for me to go ahead...
