Replacing the Lee Primer tray for hand priming

A while back I bought the new Lee XR/ERGO Replacement tray. To be blunt, it's a piece of junk, you always drop primers trying to fold out the tray hold it flat and put the new primers in. It's just cumbersome at best to use. I've gone back to the old tray, which lost a corner, using a couple...

    Question about older British pistols

They have a ring on the bottom of the handle, that seems inconvenient, why do they have that? I've tried googling but no real answer, only pictures of the guns. I'm guessing it's to hang up in the armory or something like that, but that's just a guess.

My Jimenez J-22 is headed to be a safe Queen

Or maybe sold at a gun buyback program. I was at the range Friday, shooting it, getting the normal FTE that it gets. And when I went to fire the parts just flew all over the place. Amazingly I was able to find all the parts. The gun was a piece of crap and I had hopes I could salvage it, but...

    .380 Auto 100 gr CPFP HP-38

I've been loading 2.6 grains of HP-38 with an xtreme 100gr CPFP with .95col for a while now. Yesterday I did my check weights with 2.5gr to balance the scale, I then forgot to change the scale to 2.6 grains. Will it really make any difference with 2.5gr vs 2.6gr. Some background, I'm trying...

Lee Hand Primer 90794 XR/Ergo Update Kit

New Style Replacement Small & Large Trays & Covers - Lee Precision The small tray in my old kit with the rectangle tray has broken, I can still use it with a rubber band keeping the top on. When I wrote Lee they said I could replace it with the above kit. I tried to videos of them loading...

    Missouri Bullets arrived

I may give up on plated bullets, these guys are one of the few who haven't raised their prices dramatically like the others (I don't think they've raised them). I'll take the 8-10 weeks for shipment, I know that planning it out. Just had 240 grain 44 mag and 124 9 9mm show up. And about an...

Using a regular small pistol primer vs magnum primer.

I have been using 6.9 gr of HS-6 with a 158 gr LSWC in my 5.5" barrel SA 357. Makes for a nice fun load to shoot. I am down to 60 small pistol magnum primers. I wrote Hodgdon and asked them if I could use regular small pistol primers with the above load, they responded saying yes, but I would...

Bond Arms Backup 9mm Trigger Guard

I've tried locktite and other solutions, but I can't get the trigger guard back tight, it just stays loose. Any thoughts on how to get it tight and stay tight.

Am I mis-remembering prices on 44 plated bullets?

Seems like I can buy lead bullets various calibers for about the same price I use to, but looking around at various sites 240 gr plated 44 mag are running around $90-$100 for a box of 500, I thought just two years ago they were running in the 50-60's. I have enough to last another year if they...

9mm Brass: Better to trim or sort by headstamp?

I currently sort by headstamp, though some headstamps are a little older. I'm making the assumption that the same headstamp is close enough in size. I only want to trim or sort. Curious what do you guys do?

    Recovering .380 vs 9mm brass

I don't know why, but I typically lose 5-20% of my .380 brass everytime I got to the range. I come home with 50-100% more brass than I started with with my 9mm brass. I know a lot of my .380 brass rolls out onto the range floor past where the broom can get it, but still. Just glad I bought a...

    Charter Arms 38spl Undercover issue

I believe the part is the cylinder latch release, it's a screw in the back plate where the firing pin is, it's attached to the cylinder latch. I keep putting locktite on the screw, but every 4-5 times I go the the range it breaks loose and the screw turns as I shoot, eventually locking the...

    Went to the range today...

It was a sad site, only 3 of the 20 stalls on the side I was on were being used and the other side was closed. I talked with one of the range officers afterwards and he said since the ammo shortage basically they only have members and reloaders coming. They keep ammo stocked, but not a lot...

Why such disparity with Unique Loads in a 44 mag 240 grain.

When I first start loading Unique in my 44mag I was using the layman manual and the Speer manual (which matches the Alliant site). The Layman manual starts at 10grs of Unique for a 240gr Linotype. The Speer manual and Alliant site has a starting charge of 6.5 grain and a max load of 7.0 for a...

    Best Replacement Powder

This is for my SA Bisley Valquero 357. I shoot 158 LSWC, currently I'm using 6.9 gr of HS-6, is a soft load even though it's at the high end of the Hodgin site. I'm down to 160 small pistol magnum primers. After that I'll only have small pistol primers. I have Unique, BE-86, HP-38...

    Missouri Bullets

I understand they had a terrible tragedy, so I don't really want to bother them right. I'm curious have the folks who ordered in September gotten their bullets yet? Based on their email in October that said they were starting the August orders, I'm think the September orders should be getting...

    Jennings J-22 issues

I know it's a crappy gun, but I still like to shoot it. Is there anyway to make it more reliable, I have a lot of FTE and FTL issues with it. Very seldom do I get off six rounds without one of these issues. It's as close to be a safe queen as a gun can get. But I still take it out to the range.

    Why process matters

Yesterday I was loading up some 357's. I load 100 at a time, in trays of 50 each. I had to get up after loading the first 50. My process: Setup the scale, zero, then use scale weights with .5gr of my desired weight. If I have to adjust, I go back to the zero step and then scale weights...

I have been reloading a lot in the last few months

I'm down to 140 CPFP xtreme 240gr bullets. I just checked online with them and Berry's. Man, $80 for a box of 500. I don't remember them being this high. I thought they use to be in the 50-60 dollar range. Maybe I'm having oldtimer's memory when movies were a quarter :).

    Finally went to the range...

I haven't been since March. Way too long, had a good day, wife didn't go with me like she usually does, they only had every other stall open. All the open stalls were full, but normally on a Friday when they open it's pretty packed.
