Honest question: Do you keep your rifles shaded all the time when out shooting, or is there some other way to assure the temperature of the cartridges and gun won't exceed safe limits?
Myself, if there isn't a spec for it, I won't load it.
kludge,
IIRC, Somewhere out there are charts that can help you convert lower end Unique loads into starting loads for Universal, so you can use some of the data from Unique as a starting point for Universal.
Fulleffect,
Hey, my other .45 powder is 2400...I get ya :).
I'd hunt around for a used leupold-the problem with cheap scopes (I used to be a cheap scope guy) is that they have a nasty habit of failing in an unpredictable fashion.
Sometimes they are fine for 20 years at 10 rounds per year and then all of a sudden they bust loose on round 4 of a string...
I've come to view it as actually more safe than pistol concepts that use a safety swtich.
"Don't worry, it's on safety" is the famous last phrase that is usually followed by "But I thought it was on safety!" or "Dude it's not supposed to go off with the safety on!"
It's better to have no...
tacweapon,
The thing is, you need to know more than if it's just 30-06 or 7.62 x 54r.
You also need to know, whatever caliber it's in, that the modifications didn't make it unsafe to fire.
A gunsmith's helpful eye is the cheapest insurance you'll buy all year if you plan on firing this...
I wouldn't fire it without going to a gunsmith for an inspection-there is no telling what additional "custom" work might have been done that you can't easily see.
You have a lot better luck with the tight frame/slide fit of these new semi-custom guns than I have.
I've seen stock Colts run with zero failures out of the box.
I've seen two SW1911's, one Springfield 1911A1 stainless, and two kimbers go from purchase to range....all had FTF's out of the box.
Tex,
I think it's more an assumption that the boy's father knows better what's going on than either the boy, or the folks on the net.
You don't need to wonder whether the boy did something wrong; just presume his father is acting as a parent based on his knowledge of the child.
The Tourist,
I think a better question to ask yourself is:
Who is in a better position to judge whether this particular minor is a risk, you, or the parent that he lives with?
Sheriff,
I would just add to remember that your Dad is doing this for your own good. When you worry about...
FWIW,
I've been using a 16 gauge (Auto 5) since I was 10. Recoil was never a problem-it's not like shooting a 12 at all, except on the pattern end, where it's very much more like a 12 than a 20.
You might want to rethink the 16 if you have a suitable gun available.
HO88,
It may never result in a harm, but it is certainly much more likely to cause serious problems than to yield any benefit. And there's also the fact that his parents do have a right to make these decisions.
We don't have all the information behind this decision: there can be any...
Folks, we need to remember that this is someone who is still a minor in the care of his dad. It looks like his dad agreed with grandma on this subject.
It is entirely possible that it is illegal for you to continue possessing that bersa without your dad's permission. This isn't the same...
