    Savage repair

Sent an A22 mag in to Savage for repair. It has many faults but my question is how long before I can expect it back? Savage customer service is shaky at best. At least that’s been my experience. Has anyone else ever sent a Savage in for service and how long did it take.

    Savage A22 magnum

That right there is call a trap line jm. Ain’t interested cause id have to go check it every day. I like to walk and scan or call. When you get a few good boar ‘coons jumpin‘ around nearly in your lap it’s kinda fun. The main reason I chose the Savage is the flush mag. Even tho Savage’s version...

    Savage A22 magnum

Ok, no one had these in stock locally so I bought one off line and picked it up about a week ago. Rained all week so didn’t have a chance to shoot it until yesterday. Cleaned it and took it out for a couple boxes of shells. Like most other Savages I own, the magazine will not seat properly...

    Savage A22 magnum

I know this has kinda been hashed out before but I’m going to do it again. I’m going to try an A22 mag I think. I like to coon call and they sometimes come in multiples. Current rifle is Model 93 and when several coons are running around or a single is going high speed I can’t work the bolt and...

Hunting up North. Turkeys Won Again. D'oh!

Did you happen to rub the revolver with any penetrating oil? That kills rounds after a short time. Doesn’t take much to do it either.

    Junk? New Savage Bolt .22s

I’ve got the B22 FVSR and overall I like it. Don’t care for the Ruger knockoff magazine and it’s ammo picky. I do like the stock. If you have a little more cash and really want to hit what you’re aiming at, get a CZ. Or, if you’re not going to scope it, look for a very good Winchester 67. Can’t...

Ruger American Ranch in 223? Anyone?

Gentlemen, I stand corrected and my apologies to Mr. Ruger. As reported on my last post I bought the Ruger ranch last summer. In my defense, when I got it the bolt, trigger and safety would not function correctly. Barely at all. I loosened the action screws and there was a pop and the action...

Ruger American Ranch in 223? Anyone?

I have one. Bought it just at the tail end of summer. As far as fit and finish go it’s just okay. Barrel is completely free but the forearm leans a little to the right. Don’t like the noise from the short barrel. It comes up nice. There are slow twists and fast twists and then there are...

    Ruger 9mm carbine

Thanks Two. Lots of videos but none in the ammo test category that I can find. Lots of “see how fast I can empty a mag” stuff but my goal is to hit what I’m shooting at. Mine is not here yet but when it comes I’ll start with the CCI. My eyes won’t let me use the iron sights either so I’m...

    Ruger 9mm carbine

Has anyone put one of these on bags on a bench for accuracy at 50 yds? Interested in what round gave the best groups. I realize each rifle will have it’s choice but just looking for a starting point. This will be the take down model.

    Ruger American Ranch 5.56

This rifle is about a 2” gun with everything I’ve put through it so far. Not too impressed. I’ve owned and do own Rugers for 50 years and they are solidly built but accuracy is always hit or miss. Anyways, that 16” barrel makes it LOUD. Anybody have any experience with the Kaw Valley linear comp?

OK What's the WORST Rifle You have ever owned ?

Tikka T3 Lite .243. Lucky to hit the backstop at 100. Terrible customer service. Said I could send it back if I paid shipping and included a $75 bench fee cause it’s “never their fault”. Free floated the barrel and at least I can now hit the backstop.

    Ruger American Ranch 5.56

Finally got it scoped and cleaned and went out to the bench to get it on paper. Had some old Aguila 62 grain fmj stuff and at 25 yds it’s a little cluster. Don’t know what it will do at 100 yet. The problem is that large mag hanging out of it. Just gets in the way. I want a flush mag but I see a...

Tell your funny gun story here

Police academy back in the wheel gun days. I’m in the lane next to the range master. Competition shooter. Best of everything. Demonstration shooting with the revolver upside down, off hand, etc.. Day before qualification we’re shooting and there is just one ragged hole in the center of his...

    Ruger American Ranch 5.56

I would probably settle for those groups right there Nipprdog. They will open up some at 100 but I’m going to try a box. The main reason I bought the rifle is because 55 grain fmj is the most common load for .223/5.56 and even tho I have other rifles that shoot very well with heavier or lighter...

    Ruger American Ranch 5.56

Just picked one of these up and looking for bulk ammo recommendations. Military ball or fmj. I realize each rifle is different but just looking for some personal experience and accuracy results. Would be great to hold it around an inch if possible.

    M60. One under each arm.

Toughest species you have ever hunted

A good big boar ‘coon. I’ve killed lots of them under various conditions. I’ve had them keel over after a rap on the nose with a short stick or a single shot from a pellet gun. Then again, many times I’ve had them run off at high speed after soaking up 10 to 20 shots of .22. Once I shot one...

Looking for input on the ruger PC carbine

I’m at an age where I’m cutting back on my collection but that being said, I was in the local shop the other day and picked one of these up. I played with all the buttons, drooled on it a bit, and then put it back. Do I want one? Yes. Will I get one? Probably not unless I buy a lucky lottery...

Daytime Raccoon Hunting, share with me your tips and tricks.

Have called them some. As others have said, get on the opposite side of the tree from the hole. Camo out because they notice sometimes. Sometimes they just peek and go back in but once had 4 come out of the same tree boiling mad and racing for the caller. That was fun. Try and let the coon get...
