Thinking about a Colt Lightweight Commander

Sounds like they're reliable. How have your guns been, cosmetically? Any noticeable flaws?

Thinking about a Colt Lightweight Commander

I'm considering a Colt XSE Lightweight Commander. Has anyone here bought one recently? How's the quality?

    Detonics, are they any good?

The explanation I've heard re: the rear sight is that the guns were meant to be carried hammer-down on a loaded chamber, and the top of the slide was reshaped to facilitate thumb-cocking. That's why they had to move the rear sight forward. I think it's a pretty poor feature, since it...

    Glock chamber crack/scratch

Well, I took a close look again today, with fresh eyes and better light. It's a small scratch. I'm confident that nothing I did caused it, so Jim Watson's theory is probably correct that it was caused by the chamber reamer. It's never caused a problem so I'm just going to keep an eye on it for now.

    Glock chamber crack/scratch

I gave my Glock 20's barrel a good scrubbing tonight and discovered what looks like either a crack or a scratch in the chamber. It's about 2/3rds of the way in from the breech end and runs from roughly 11 o'clock to 12 o'clock (as seen from the breech), perpendicular to the axis of the bore...

Anyone had a ganglion cyst in the wrist?

Went to see my doc yesterday. He confirmed that it's a ganglion cyst and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. Soonest I can get in? Exactly one month from now. Not sure what to do at this point. This thing is interfering with my typing and mousing, and I'm on a computer at least 10 hours a day...

Anyone had a ganglion cyst in the wrist?

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I guess these things are pretty common. I'm seeing my doc tomorrow; kind of amazing that I could get in on a holiday week like this. I actually tried the "whack it with a big book" technique a couple times, but no luck. I'm going to have it aspirated, most...

Anyone had a ganglion cyst in the wrist?

I've developed a ganglion cyst in my right wrist, possibly caused by recoil from handgun shooting. It's basically a small fluid-filled sack that grows from a joint or tendon sheath. Mine is large enough that I can't shoot a handgun with any real level of recoil without experiencing a sharp jolt...

Looks like I'm going to go to the SHOT show.

SHOT is outstanding. I didn't sleep more than about 4 hours over 3 days. Spent all day at the show and all night drinking, gambling, and... er... doing other things. Got to meet some very cool people in the industry. Ross Seyfried, Hans Vang, Chip McCormick, Larry Vickers, Bill Laughridge, Dave...

    Top-quality wallets?

Apologies in advance if this is slightly OT, but could anyone point me in the direction of a company or individual who makes good wallets? I'm not overly impressed with the stuff I see at the mall. Surely there's a Milt Sparks of the wallet world

Most Interesting Gun Person(s) Ever Met

I met Ross Seyfried at SHOT '03. I grew up reading his stories in G&A, and we joked about how they had "ruined me for life." Great guy, very humble and friendly. He posed for a picture with me and autographed one of his articles. I told him that I'd like to hunt elk on his ranch one day when my...

    Glock 20 and 10mm

Are you sure about that figure? To the best of my knowledge, SAAMI max pressure for the 10mm is 37,500 PSI.

    Glock 30 opinions?

I've fired a G30 and own a G29 (basically the same gun, but in 10mm). Fantastic little gun, surprisingly controllable, totally reliable, no need to tweak, tune, or twiddle anything. Just take it out of the box, clean/lube, and go shootin'. If it fits your hand, I say go for it. The G29 is...

    g30 concealing help

I'd recommend against small of back carry... One unlucky fall and you'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. the Comp-tac C-T.A.C. seems like a favorite for these guns. I'll be buying one for my G29.

    new G29 range report

Lennyjoe, I'm curious why you say that. I've run thousands of rounds of Blazer through my G20 with absolutely no malfunctions, no unusual amount of fouling, no wear or damage to any parts, or any other problems.

    new G29 range report

agtman, Do you use your G29 as your carry gun? If so, what ammo do you carry? I'm going to place an order with Double Tap on Monday. McNett's 180 grain Gold Dot load looks like fun

    new G29 range report

I finally had a chance to run a few (too few) rounds through my Glock 29. 50 rounds of CCI Blazer, followed by 20 Winchester Silvertips. First impressions: As expected, it ran like a top. No malfunctions of any kind. Recoil is snappy, considerably sharper than a Glock 20, but not painful or...

What are the legalalities for buying a gun for a family member as a gift?

To the best of my knowledge, gifting is perfectly legal so long as: 1) It's a true gift; no money changing hands. 2) The recipient isn't disqualified from legally owning the gun. For example, giving your brother a gun for his birthday is fine. Your brother giving you money to go buy a...
