Deconstructing the logic of gun control

So NOW answering direct questions is of utmost importance to you, since you are asking them? Like i said, if this thread has any hope of staying on topic for the OP and unlocked, we shouldn't go off course. If you want to start a new thread with that question, go for it and i will answer...

    My first blackpowder! Now what?

Yeah... seems like as long as there is enough powder to get the ball out the barrel, I can go as low as I want recoil wise. Might have to lob them at the target, but I can at least try it out.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Actually, not changing the subject would be to remain on topic for this thread, which is talking about forming sound, logical arguments. So no, I am not going to chase that rabbit trail. If you want to start a new thread, be my guest and I may contribute. A weakness in how you present your...

    My first blackpowder! Now what?

Oh man... I have tried that with other rifles and it is SOOOO awkward. Might be good practice though. I'll probably give it a try though. Picked up the gun today. Needs some cleaning, but there does not seem like there is much that could really go wrong.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

You aren't but it would be real great if you would just settle on one instead of changing your position following every post I make, then claiming that I missed the point because I did not anticipate what your next point was going to be. Back to the original topic of the thread. If you...

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Larry, before accusing me of something, you may want to read the discussion yourself. My statement from post #53: So you are about 15 posts behind me in that regard. If that was his point, let him say so and I'll agree. But I don't think that was his point.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

So how does all that relate to your original statement?? You started out talking about controlling access to weapons. Now you say you are just talking about controlling people, specifically inmates in prisons? Which is it? Are you talking about controlling access to weapons, as your...

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Hey, i agree, it is a terrible analogy. But Ken thinks that somehow the access of inmates to weapons proves something.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

You said "controlling access to weapons to prevent crime has never, ever worked" and used prison as your supporting example. If controlling access to weapons is not preventing crime, then allowing inmates access to weapons would have no impact on crime. If allowing inmates access to...

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

And you ignored my question. What impact would allowing inmates to have access to weapons have on crime in prison? If inmates had weapons that could over power guards, would their behavior change?

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Wow... A condescending "young man?" Try to lay off the attitude to keep the discussion on topic and leave the ad hominem out of it. First, any analogy that tries to compare prisons (filled 100% with criminals) to society as a whole is off to a weak start. Prisons and the general population of...

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

There, i corrected my initial post, better? The point of the post hasn't changed in the least.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Wait, never mind... It doesn't matter. No matter what you say, the absolutist nature of your statement hasn't changed and is equally wrong regardless of the minutia of the topic.

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

That wasn't so hard, was it? Ok, what other methods of cntrolling access were you talking about?

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

How bout you just clarify for me?

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Which part of this ami misunderstanding? "All the evidence" "Never ever worked" Seems you are presenting a pretty absolutist view to me?
  17. P

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

There it is again. ALL the evidence?? Every piece of evidence says that controlling access to weapons does NOTHING to prevent crime? Uh.... nope. Every piece of evidence that YOU accept as valid says that, because that is what you want the evidence to say. To an anti-gunner, every piece of...

What pro-gun quotes do you wish pro-gun sites would STOP using?

There is a big difference between known, actual events that really happened and judging the response to those events (Neville and the Nazis) and conspiracy theories with absolutely no connection to reality (Obama has a hidden Muslim army that he is going to use to install himself as dictator for...

What pro-gun quotes do you wish pro-gun sites would STOP using?

I have read DU. Lots of ignorance. So, do you think we should settle on these two absolutes: 1. Everyone in favor of gun control is an ignorant fear mongering commie who wants a one world government taking care of our every need. AND 2. Everyone opposed to gun control is a nut job conspiracy...

Deconstructing the logic of gun control

Walkalong- The post from lonegunman says that anti's believe 9 separate things, all absolutely. How about some evidence of those beliefs? B/c around here I get labled an "anti" and I disagree with every single one of those 9. I know other "antis" who would disagree with all nine as well...
