Locking up in NYC? (Gun safe)

My and most gun safes is/are UL Fire rated. Mine happens to be rated to 2 hrs at 1400 degrees. Just like anything, you get what you pay for. How much burglary protection do you want? That all depends on how heavy gauge the steel on the cabinet is. You can get the relatively cheap models...

Results of gun care product evaluation

I have several of each of the three winners on their way to my house now. I've been using weapon shield for lubing my 1911s and regular wd-40 for my tablesaw and other woodworking tools. As well as my hornady LNL AP press dies and shell plate. Thanks!

I'm betting your buddy had his gun into the gunsmith for a trigger job.

    pulling SWC bullets

For my lead .45 swc bullets I use the Hornady collet puller and it works great. I think the collet I use is a .358 collet but I'm not sure. The bullets are damaged but I just re-melt them and start over. I have and hate my kinetic puller. It's messy...some powder always flies out when the...

    How much mineral spirits?

I've never tried it. And I got rid of a 50 lb bag of walnut shell because of the dust. Are you saying the mineral spirits will fix the walnut dust issue?

    Switching powders. Need advice.

I am switching from red dot powder to bullseye powder. I currently load my 45 200 grain semi wadcutter with 4 grains of red dot. I like that load. I would like to get similar velocities with the bullseye. So, how much do I use?

I've had great results with my 185gr lswc 18bhn friendswood bullets so I figured the same charge is a good starting point.

So I shot a round of 100 230gr softball at 4.8gr of red dot and still got a small amount of leading. I may try 5.0 grains next time. On another note, I received my order of 2,000 Missouri bullets 185gr .45 button bullets today. I already loaded up 100 of them at 4.5 gr to test next week.

New to cast bullets. Getting leading.

My conclusions so far: 185gr LSWC BHN18 bullets I get no leading at all with 4.4gr of Red Dot powder and a C.O.L. of 1.25. 230gr LRN BHN18 bullets I get moderate to light leading in both my 1911's with both 4gr and 4.5gr of Red Dot Powder. I will probably stick to the LSWCs but I...

There was a small amount of the bearing surface protruding from the case mouth. The o.a.l. is as long as I could make it to both load in my magazines and seat fully in the barrel. Even as it is, the lead is touching the rifling.

What I meant was that the bottom of the bullet was still .452 whereas the top, at the taper crimp was .448. Now, with a lesser crimp, the top measures .450-.451 at the crimp.

New to cast bullets. Getting leading.

Went to the range today. Shot 32 rounds of my 5.5gr titegroup 185lswc bullets. Higher recoil than the unique. No leading:). Tonight I will try a 4.5gr load of red dot in my 230gr lrn and retry tomorrow. I will also try a 4gr load in my 185gr lswc bullets.
