    Do You Plunk Test???

I can confirm that; it's what I am seeing when the cartridge fails with the gauge check. I mostly see base problems. If it is a rim problem, I just toss them since most of the rims that fail are pretty beat up (hammered by the slide), after being fired many, many times.

    Do You Plunk Test???

I use a case gauge on every round. If it fails the case check (a few do), I run it through the seating and crimping stages again, then re-check with the case gauge. If it fails that time (very few do), I do the plunk test in the barrel chamber. If it fails that test (extremely rare), I toss...

    Resizing Lube for 223

I use Imperial Sizing Die Wax, and have been using the same can of it for well over 30 years. Works perfectly and (obviously) goes a very long way. You asked earlier how to remove the wax after sizing. The wax on mine is removed during my next step of tumbling where the detergent gets removes...

    Sturdy Pocket knife under $100

I have the Cryo (not the Cryo II) and really like it a LOT. I am on my second Cryo (lost the first one) and on each of them I removed the thumb stud immediately after I got it - just don't like it. For me, the finger assisted opener is very reliable and very fast. Although I have never thought...

    Air Guns in Michigan.

Not sure anymore. In the past, I had done some business with Precision Airguns and Supplies in Dryden, MI, but their FaceBook page says the husband/wife owners retired and closed the business a couple of months ago. I will keep an eye on this thread to see if any other Michiganians can...

Long term Walther PPQ owners...what say ye?

Similar to 5-SHOTS, except I have BOTH the PPQ and the P99 AS. Really, really like them both - A LOT. I got the PPQ first and have put thousands of rounds through it. No problems, consistent precision, nice consistent trigger, fits my hand, good grip angle for me - I cannot think of anything...

Your best shot with a handgun intentional or not

My best handgun "grin-shots" were when shooting handgun silhouette. My normal silhouette pistol was (and is) a Thompson Center Contender in 7mm TC/U where, in the Creedmore position I could hit rams at 200 yds pretty well. Then on a break, we decided to try lower power side arm pistols. With...

Coffee (yes I mean hunting related coffee)

Oops. I couldn't edit my post above, so I'll correct it here. The correct temperature to brew coffee is 195 F to 205 F. I was only off by 100 degrees, don't I get partial credit? :)

Coffee (yes I mean hunting related coffee)

Kingcreek, in using the pour-over method, you are doing the right thing in terms of quality of a wonderful beverage. I also do ONLY pour-overs for my coffee enjoyment, but have not combined it with hunting at all yet. I make coffee because I like the taste of it, NOT for the caffeine blast...

    I want a Feinwerkbau 601

Me too. Got mine 34 years ago, back in 1986. Had it refurbished once. Really like using that rifle! Back then, I would have loved to get a FWB 300S or 601, but I didn't have that kind of money. But probably any of those dual piston rifles are beautiful shooting guns. Lou

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Good idea, especially if you want leave the hinge naturally orienting in the "more-closed" position. If however you want the hinge to permanently orient in the "more-open" position, you could try heating the hinge and flexing the cover in the procedure described at this link. Using that...

Walther PPQ, anybody here using them as their primary?

Because a paddle release is better! :)

    I Think I Want An HK45C

I decided to retire my Colt Series 70 1911 and I got the HK45C to replace it. I really like the 45C, a lot. Shoots everything, no hiccups, very reliable. I prefer the DA/SA mode, especially when carrying. I shot some IDPA with the 45C and did pretty well, even with the long hard first-shot...

Does anyone still hunt with SxS today?

Although I no longer hunt birds with it (or any other gun for that matter), I use my Sterlingworth 12 ga all the time for sporting clays shooting. Love side-by-sides.

    Walther target rifle project.

Nice! What did you do for the black areas of the stock? Stippling? Paint?

    Walther target rifle project.

Very nice on many accounts! Don't be surprised if you NEVER get rid of that rifle. Almost 33 years ago, I bought and still have an RWS 75 TO1 rifle for 10m match shooting and I probably will never ever sell it. I had it "tuned up" a few years ago, after the piston seal finally went bad. They...

Me, too. I just have never thought to post anything about it. Glad you did.

    First Time

How was it inspiration for Dillon to start making presses? Are you implying the competitor was using factory-loaded ammo? That begs the question of whether factory loaded ammo uses the same new brass that we can buy for reloading. I am thinking that, except for maybe the mouth, new brass is...
