Streamlight TLR-1 HL battery door replace help?!

The hinge pin mount on the TLR-1 battery door broke so Streamlight sent out a new battery door and pin assembly. Installed the pin but the latch does not catch the assembly. Any tips-techniques how to get it to latch? I don't want to apply to much force and break this.

    Crosman 788 Scout

The MIL knew I wanted a BB gun and her husband had one that had been put away, she gifted it to me last month. This is my first BB gun BTW. Roughly early 70's and they had the box for it. The prior day I went to Walmart for some BB's to see how it would shoot. Did this at 25' to see how it shot...

Some new refurb knife related projects

Stopped by the knife shop and there was a small barrel of reject/abandoned pieces I rummaged through. Most was PRC made stuff but there were vinatge 60's-70's American knives in there too. These stood out so they came back with me. The Dexter fork is basically surface rust so not much will be...

    RA40's knife works in progress

Did some shaping-contouring on these today: Devin Thomas 1095/Ni Rain drop Damascus, mammoth type ivory that will have a matching Damascus blade. Devin Thomas Rain drop mokume, imitation stag that will have a stainless blade.

    Some recent knife completions

These had been back burner projects that have been sitting in the drawer. This kitchen slicer was started back around '95-'96. I was learning to hand rub a finish and I wasn't happy with it so put it aside. I'd chipped out the bevel on her Shun a few weeks back and that knife could have used...

Been a bit for me to grind out a knife

I'd ground batches then heat treated them to have as inventory to be assembled as necessary. Have gone through all those so did a practice run to see if I could make a consistent grind. These are coming off the 50 grit belt. Whether or not they get done is another. Was fun getting some shop...

    Favorite knife handle materials?

What are your favorite knife handle materials that you prefer? I was discussing this with a few people because I have some stag rounds in the supply box that are calling me to use. I like MOP but not on users. Ivory types are nice as well but anything that resembles elephant is a no-no. My...

Availability of new guns in general?

I was talking with the guys at the range about some potential guns I may post up for sale. Aside from the low ball offers we discussed availability of Springfield 1911 's and 1911's in general. One of the guys stated that he was told there is a 2 year backlog from SA. When I was home I looked...

    SA 1911-A1 desirability?

I have a Springfield 1911-A1 bought back in the mid 90's. Ser# NM118XXX. Wasn't sure if the newer or older ones may have more appeal? I'm debating selling as they are readily available to replace if I should miss it. Thoughts and or history on some of their offerings over the years?

    Hi Power recoil spring?

Saw this earlier and was wondering what type of longevity one may expect from the factory springs including approximate cycles on the recoil spring?

    Careless GS and screws

Last Thursday took some revolvers by the gunsmith to have him evaluate the selling values. I've not been to him before though the Yelp reviews paint him as 5 star. He asked to take the side plate off to inspect the previous gunsmith's work on this one, said ok. Our overall interaction was...

    Show me your pens?

A bit of a reach though many of us carry use a pen and some like the pens made by knife makers. This is a roller ball pen that David Broadwell from TX made about 15+ years ago.

    Dry fire snap caps?

I've been using the B's b-unique-enterprises snap caps for a decade some odd. I've been pleased. While looking I came across these from the eBay seller 82ndparachuterigger, any experiences with them? Are they equal to the B's version...

    What Nylon Gun Belt?

Simple carry with a spare mag pouch, small fixed blade knife as basics. Have seen fair mention about Kore and was considering this one: https://www.koreessentials.com/collections/gun-belts/products/new-x5-buckle-black-tactical-belt The Nexbelt was the other that is similar...

Modifying a Safariland ALS type holster?

A Safariland 6378-278-411 ALS type holster was available for the Sig Pro/2022 so I ordered it yet I see that Sig had produced 3 variants of this one with a Picatinny and generic light rail listing which is the only model that Safariland produces for this pistol. This 6378 does not seem to have...

    Newish shooter wants a 1911 .45

I know this can go downhill fast so hoping that this can remain mild so that I can advise a newish shooter that asked me some questions. He came to me asking about getting a 1911 as his SD gun. He's a smallish guy with smaller hands. He served in the military in a non combat role so the...

    Project knife begins

This knife was taken in on a trade of other goodies. On initial inspection I thought it may be an imported piece but the build qualities aren't "import" spec. It has good fit and the materials are quality. The polishing was ok and there is a faint hamon line so it is a forged piece. It has some...

    Bill Cheatham- RIP

Wanted to relay that Bill Cheatham passed on Dec 11'th at 83. Met Bill back in '89 and that was the beginnings of my interest in custom knives. Good job Bill! He served the LEO community and was a great knife maker. He'll be missed. The big one is the wedding cake knife that he made for our...

One of my early knife projects

Was digging through the drawer and this was one of the ones tucked away. Made in '96 with ATS-34, flat ground with linen Micarta handle slabs.
