    The sks rifle. your thoughts

Hi... I have a couple SKS rifles. Dependable but not the most accurate rifles much beyond a hundred yards with imported ammunition. I bought mine as home defense rifles and hopefully they will never be needed for that purpose. Still...they are kind of fun to plink away with at the range.

What do you do if you see a grail Gun?

Usually end up buying it out right or putting it on layaway depending on where my disposable income balance happens to be at the moment.

    Gun range/Club rates

Hi... I have memberships in two local gun clubs. The initiation fee for one club was $100(IIRC), 40-45 years ago when I joined with a $20 yearly due. That has recently increased to $30 per year. As a lifetime member over 65 with 30+ years membership, I no longer pay dues. I do make a yearly...

Do the tensioned barrels on Dan Wesson revolvers make them more accurate?

Hi... I have several Dan Wesson revolvers and they are all very accurate including the .375SuperMag. I don't know if it is the tensioned barrel or the sights but whatever it is it works. Of all of my revolvers, by caliber the Dan Wessons are consistently the most accurate in .22LR, .41Magnum...

    I’m done buying “range bags”

Hi... I guess I am the contrarian here but I carry my handguns to the range in leather range bags, a NRA wheeled range bag and a couple of hard sided pistol cases that each hold four large handguns. The leather range bags usually hold my .357Magnum, .41Magnum, .45Colt and .44Spl revolvers, the...

    When to say when....

I have lots of rifles in various calibers and am not interested in getting rid of any of them. My son will inherit them and use them...he probably shoots them more than I do anyway. I recently turned 69 and my health doesn't allow me to hunt anymore but I still enjoy a day at the gun club...

    Colt vs. S&W vs. Ruger

I have a couple of Colt revolvers, six or seven S&W revolvers and a couple dozen or more Ruger revolvers plus several Dan Wesson revolvers and a dozen or more Uberti/Pietta clones. No intention of limiting myself to any one brand, caliber or action type.

How Big is Your Revolver Collection?

Hi... I have revolvers in every caliber from .22LR through .44Magnum by multiple manufacturers from Taurus, Ruger, S&W, Dan Wesson, Virginian Dragoon, Uberti, and probably a few more that I can't recall at the moment. More revolvers than I need but less than I want.

Guns You Should Have Bought When You Had The Chance, And Now Regret Not Buying

I could have bought a Virginian Dragoon in .45Colt about ten years ago. Went back to the shop a couple days later and it was gone. Still upset at myself about it.

Help me choose between two Ruger SAs.

I have multiple revolvers in both calibers and would happily buy another .41Magnum and never regret the decision. I handload for both calibers and many others so ammunition cost/availability is of no concern to me.

opinions on this press? (hornady AP)

I have two Hornady LNLs set up in my reloading room, one for small primers and one for large primers. My son runs them for large batches of 9mm, 10mm, .40 S&W, .45ACP, .357Mag and .223. He constantly cranks out ammunition at about 450-500 rounds per hour We like them so much I sold two Dillon...

How important is easy maintance to your gun selection

Ease of cleaning has never been a consideration on my part. I have cleaned guns since I was about 12 years old and am now 68. I rarely clean guns these days...I have people to do that for me. Retirement has it perks... I do clean a gun when I first acquire it...just to be more familiar with it...

What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

I have a lot of handgun brass to process just not very motivated. I have an adequate supply of loaded rounds in just about every caliber but it has just been too miserably hot and humid to go to the gun club recently.

What shoots 30 Carbine besides an M1 Carbine

I regularly shoot my Ruger BlackHawk in .30Carbine. Fun to shoot. People claim it is excessively loud but I use electronic ear muffs and it seems no louder than any other high velocity revolver round to me.

Rarest/strangest firearm you've handled or shot?

Hi... The "rarest" or most "strange/unique" firearms I have shot were a few full automatic weapons that I rented at Knob Creek machine gun shoot a few years ago. I shot a BAR, a Thomson submachine gun, an MP 38, a belt fed .30cal machine gun and a few more that I can't recall at the moment...

    $10,000 Allowance

Hi... If I had $10,000 to spend on firearms, I would most likey buy a couple more Sako rifles, a couple more N frame S&W or Dan Wesson revolvers and spend the balance on SAA clones or 1911 pistols. I certainly would not need my wife's permission or approval. I don't ask for it now and she never...

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

    What did you shoot today?

Hi... My son and I spent a couple hours at the gun club today. Mostly shooting rifles at 100 and 200 yards wth a couple of big bore revolvers added in. I shot a couple magazines full of .223 through my AR. Easy hits on steel at 100 yards, so I switched to the 200yd targets with zero misses on...
