    I think I avoided a kick-in robbery today?

Be a good neighbour and call the local sheriff. Tell them as much detail as you can about the vehicle and the 2 men. If you already have security cameras, think about putting up a sign saying ADT or some other security company and put up a fake camera in a very conspicuous place. Have...

NPR: Does carrying a pistol make you safer

I think the article is definitely slanted antigun. Reading this makes me think the author just dropped into our world and doesn't understand reality yet. A good writer – not a clue about the subject he is writing about. No where is it mentioned that MOST of the time a gun is displayed by...

    Case for a coach gun?

I've heard golf bags make good carry concealed for long guns. Do you have any plaid pants? Hats labeled PING?

Ammunition no longer manufactured in the United States

I vote for the 16 gauge shotgun as obsolete. Anyone bought any 32 short ammo lately? how about the 219 zipper? I think most of the English made Africa calibers are "obsolete", except for the 375 H&H. Example, who buys 300 H&H ammo now?

    BPS Deep clean

I agree with the bucket of kerosene. The military base range used to have a covered container of kerosene that they used for quick cleaning. Slosh it around carefully, and relube worked for them.

Out of Trail Boss for .45 Colt rounds out of 1858. Suggestions?

Red dot, around 6gr under 200 to 230 gr bullets were used a lot before Trail Boss came out. I turned to Green Dot and 6 to 7 grains under the same bullets during the recent shortage. Bulky shotgun powders work well for large pistol cartridges when loading light to moderate loads.

A Word of Caution or Don't Do Stupid Stuff

I'm with lone goose. Perry suspenders from Duluth trading company are my daily wear. I have a "MATURE" waistline and the belt needs to be "cut me in half" tight or "drop to the floor" loose. Suspenders fix that. They also do a great job in keeping the pants and belt in place. An I S...

Sadest gun in the scrap bin

Older folks or those not computer literate - are not aware of how easily an items value can be checked. second, surviving widows do not place the value on "guy things" like their former husbands did. government officials have NO problem destroying any item. Value does not matter to...

    Function test a liner lock?

I believe a safe way to check the lock on a folding blade knife is to clamp the blade in a vice. That stabilizes the blade and insures it will not go anywhere. Then grab the handle and twist away. You can also modernly smack the handle part with the hand to simulate hitting the blade against...

    South Dakota

I have no first hand experience in South Dakota, but some general advice: I'm looking to relocate next year. I scouted a couple towns that seem attractive and asked about reloading supplies. Finding the store that sells reloading supplies is the key to what shooters are doing in the area...

Is this how it's going to be for .22LR owners?

Manufacturing perspective When a manufacture can sell all of a product he can produce, that is called 100% utilization rate. My understanding is the rimfire manufactures are using 3 shifts to produce ammo. They should be quite happy and raking in the profits. I'm told profit on rimfire...

Gel test: S&B less lethal 12 ga ammo

Sam Warmer comfort line for shooting with rubber bullets There would be no Death in this car theft case. If the shooter did the wrong thing and not call the police after shooting with a rubber bullet - there could have been no police report, and no murder conviction. If he did the right thing...

Gel test: S&B less lethal 12 ga ammo

Sam You make valid points, but this is where online posting has limits of understanding. Knowing that rubber rounds will do minimal penetration in gel is valuable – but not useful with existing laws in many places. 2 things came to mind for rubber projectiles. 4 dogs have been attached...

Gel test: S&B less lethal 12 ga ammo

A political thought about using rubber projectiles. People who think Police are the answer – don’t have a problem. There will Never be enough official authorities to be on the spot when trouble happens. We the people need to have the laws changed to allow not only self protection but...

OK Man Charged With Releasing Feral Hogs

Hogs are omnivores. if someone were napping in a pen of hogs, the hogs would "enjoy" the company. The hog transporter would have a different perspective of how much they liked hogs.

    Hitting a moving deer

During our annual deer sight in days we operate a Running Deer target. 60 yards away and crosses a 15-18 yard opening. We turn the target around and send it back the other way. Just on what I saw, perhaps 1/3 of the folks got a chest hit. About an equal # were misses or gut hits. A...

Don't lie now; you do the best napping of the year...

I awoke with a start one time. A squirrel ran up the tree right beside me! safety straps are a GOOD thing. Darn thing then set above me and chattered. I've sometimes wondered how far away snoring can be heard? I've thought about a snoring muffler, but decided it sounded too much like a...

    32acp rimless redesign

. The 32acp has a semi rimmed design of the cartridge. I see references to “rimlock” and folks saying they have experienced rim lock jams –or not. As far as I know most guns chambered in 32acp are small semi auto design. We do not need – or want – a rim on cartridges for this type of gun...

Equipment to commercially produce .22lr ammuntion

Starting from scratch is always the most difficult. Even the big companies like to buy smaller companies instead of reinventing a product. Partnering with an established firm already in the field – like Starline brass, Atlanta Arms or others and giving them the resources to expand to a new...

Equipment to commercially produce .22lr ammuntion

Ammunition making: An insider's story by George E Frost (Author) I cannot lay my hands on this book at the moment, but I remember this is by a Remington engineer. Part of the book is details how he was sent to Mexico to start up a 22 manufacturing site. This is interesting reading and...
