I tried to ignore this, but darn it, somebody had to buy it...

JT, I've drooled on the picture of the beauty ever since you first posted it. Pre- model 10 K frame Smiths in that condition are rare and most of them are .38 specials. The 32-20 chambering is a bit more difficult to find and it makes the gun that much more valuable. I was going to PM you with a...

Diana Oktoberfest Gewehr had unexpected benefits.

In the Army, in Germany, my company had a team that competed in air rifle competition. This was 1969. Targets were shot off hand at ten meters. We competed against the Germans and, of course, we regularly got out butts handed to us on a plate. The rifles we used looked like the OPs post. I...

SD ammo for 1981 Browning Hi Power

I have never fired a Hi-Power, but I do own one that has never been fired! T-series from 68. Wish I had the pouch it came in but I don't. A friend bought it new, didn't like the sights, or the trigger and he hated the safety. He decided to keep it as an investment. He never took it to the range...

What was your first marksmanship badge of honor? .....

If you have ever read "SIXGUNS" be Elmer Keith, You will be amused by his accounts of shooting eagles, ( YES! Both Golden and Bald !) because they were considered a a vermin animal that preyed on cats, small dogs and...) Shooting any bird of prey ( raptors ) or and songbird, today, is a...

In October of 67' I shot Expert Rifleman with an M-14 during BCT at Ft. Bliss , Texas. I still have the medal and I still have an M-14, albeit a civilian model from Bula Armaments.

If you could have only one pistol?

I got the unfired C-96 from a friend in California almost 30 years ago. He had cancer and he sold it to me for $2,000, which is what he paid for it. It would be worth a bit more if it had the lanyard ring. I am very happy to say that my friend with cancer is still kicking and screaming, but...

If you could have only one pistol?

Finding a good C-96 in working condition is easy...it just isn't cheap. I have two. One is in good working condition with a good bore. I re-sprung it and I shoot the snot out of it. The other one I never shoot because no one ever has except for the man who proof tested it at the factory in...

A Hi-wall replica, built from modern steel and properly heat treated, is probably stronger than any lever action.

Is there really that much difference 115 or 124gr for the 9mm

SAAMI pressures for the standard 9X19 is 35,000 PSI. Plus Ps are 38,500 PSI. Super's are 36,500 PSI. I think bullet construction is more important than pressures or velocities. A good, well constructed bullet that does its job and expands reliably is the most important variable.

Is it sacrilegious to bubba an early model Winchester 12?

Do what you want with your own gun! Model 12s are neither rare nor extremely valuable. ( Compared to, say, Lugers or SAAs ) I am a collector and I generally don't like altering old classics ( and the Model 12 is that. ) I would only advise against this project if the gun was near new. Say, a...

    Greatest invention in firearms history

Absolutely correct for a number of not so obvious reasons: For the first time, guns were completely waterproof. The could be loaded in the rain and even submerged...and still fired reliably. For the first time, guns could be reloaded while lying prone. Try loading a muzzle loader while prone...

    Rock island Auctions.

I received a flyer for an upcoming Auction and it had a Texas address. Who can blame them. Governor Jabba has forced a lot of good paying jobs and good people to flee the state. And as an aside, I am sick of Illinois calling itself "The Land of Lincoln." Lincoln was born in Kentucky and...
