A little duck hunting this morning. A new species for me. A pair of widgeon decoyed perfectly. The stoeger 3500 has ben flawless in function over 3 years of waterfowl and upland game
I didn't bring the pup yet but I saved the wings for some retrieval training. My first mallard drake and he's a stud. The only duck I saw all day and only required one shot as he was coming into the decoys
I have used 150 partitions in 300wsm at over 3300 fps at the muzzle. It knocks deer down every time, punches 2 holes and no red goo. Eat right up to the hole. 130 Nosler boat tails in 270win blew up hitting a rib at 100 yards. Lots of red goo and one hole not so good to me. YMMV
I've had several people on camera that I don't know. That's the main way I identify trespassers. I have never been cross with anyone in a hunting situation. It's just not the right thing to do. Here they will run dogs all over you. It doesn't fail. Properly mark your land and call the law. That...
I agree as you are breaking in the throat more than the barrel if you believe in this sort of thing, no? Punching down the bore is not that bad if you are careful and use cleaning equipment like aluminum that is softer than forged barrel steel
I have loaded 100 Sierra 125 HPs and they shoot well in my 70s Marlin 336. I'd use them on coyotes, beavers, and probably deer. Probably not a bad hog round either.
How about an old winchester 88 in .308 win? She is nice and light and more than accurate enough to 250. It is a nice stalking but not a great stand rifle.
I think bonded bullets leave room for error. I have killed almost all of my deer with cup and core bullets. Call it 30 deer with SGK sp projectiles alone. A cup and core can hit bone or deflect and not bleed because it doesn't exit. If you are in more open woods it's no biggie. Tracking can...
I got my 91/30 Tula 1939 for $99.00 and traded it for a 10mm g20 around 18 months ago. That is a win in my book. I remember when people couldn't see a Mosin as more than a $100 rifle. Mine was/is a good one. Great shooter with some history to the rifle.
I have had mixed results with com bloc ammo. It had always performed well in guns it was made to shoot in like my CZ 82 and SKS. My CETME loved steel as well.
Barnaul has performed admirably across the board in my weapons. Tulamo and Wolf have been the consistently worst performing...
This is fairly accurate to how I simmer mine. Minus the Borax. I will only change the water once in the 5 or 6bhours I boil the skull and I do skin the skull and take the tongue out. It's really not bad at all
I have used blue dot in .40sw, 10mm and .357 mag. It just isn't my favorite powder. It MUST be in the upper pressure range to get anywhere close to a complete burn.
Maybe it is better used in magnum shotgun shells which is what it was designed for. I certainly would not be running it through...
