    Spanish mauser

Was looking for advice on a recently purchased Spanish Mauser .my son bought the gun so I’m not up on all the details . I think it’s the 1916 short rifle . It was rechambered in the 50s to nato spec 7.62x 51 . He has ran a few rounds through it and it shoots pretty good .my question is wouldn’t...

    Super light 243

Just wanted to follow up here shot some factory loads to get on paper and the gun did well . Switched over to some handloads ( 40 gr. H4350 over 95 gr nosler ballistic tip ) gun shot a tad bit lower but had a real nice group the pic is 3 shots . That will be my hunting round .keep in mind this...

Mounting new scope to tikka tx3

I have no issues with the quality of their bases ,in fact i have rifles with weaver bases that ive hunted with for 30 years and no problems .an allen head or torx screw would be nice though!

Mounting new scope to tikka tx3

Thanks guys i did get using a tiny pick and even a sewing needle on one of them.the scope is all mounted .On a side note weaver should get with the times and use something other than flat head screws ! i mean who even uses flat blade screws anymore:(

Mounting new scope to tikka tx3

I picked up my new tikka tx3 and am now ready to mount the scope. I’m having issues with 3 of the 4 scope base mounting screws . The one screws in nicely with my fingers but the other 3 are very difficult to start. I’ve read a bunch of stuff on this issue and it looks like the likely cause is...

    Large pistol primers?

I watch the thread “ where are the reloading components at “ here on the high road fairly often but never seem to hit it just right when they are available . I do see quite a few now available on various sites on the internet but don’t recognize the companies selling . Are there more places...

    Identifing powder

I’ve had time now to get in my loading room and organize some things. Feel dumb even asking the original question because it’s visually obvious what was in the powder measure now that I’ve had time to look at it .I will be much more organized in the future though.as seen in the pics it’s the...

    Identifing powder

I only have 4 powders right now it comes down to iMr4350 or h4350 . The two powders are very similar but I’ll do as suggested and just toss it .about the log book ( I wish I knew where tf is and I wouldn’t have asked the question )Thanks for the replies

    Identifing powder

I have a quick question . While doing some reloading last year I left some powder in my powder measure and now don’t remember what it is . I always make it a point to dump it back into its container when I’m done reloading ( but not this time ) I only have about 4 different powders on hand so I...

    Super light 243

I did settle on the tikka t3x lite it seemed to fit the parameters I was looking for . It may be a tad heavier than I was hoping for once the scope is mounted but still plenty less than my 3006 . I bought some factory ammo for it and I will run some of my handload stuff through it as well to try...

    Super light 243

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I am solely hunting white tails with the gun and I’ve done a lot of reading on the tikka tx3 . That gun surprisingly is heavier than the 308 due to the longer barrel . I’m going to my local gun shop tomorrow to look at a few models they have .where I hunt you...

    Super light 243

Any suggestions on a very light and accurate 243 rifle? I’ve been hunting with my Remington model 750 in 3006 for many years but as I’m getting older it’s getting heavier to carry . It weighs in w/ scope and sling a little over 8 pounds .I bought my son a cva scout in 243 when he was 15 and he...

    Italian carcaro

That is a steal for that rifle ! I know guys that have them and they shoot very good . My local gun shop has actually had the 6.5x 52 carcano rounds stocked I’ve been picking up a few boxes each time I go there

    Italian carcaro

just wanted to revisit this thread to report I finally got a couple boxes of ammo for this gun and took it out today and ran a dozen rounds through it . It shot pretty well using the ppu 123 gr I found . Another time I’ll actually try to dial it in for accuracy.

Good scope for reasonable price ?

I have had it for a long time and taken many good deer with it. I find it to be quite accurate ,but the simmons whitetail classic scope thats on it is starting to get a little fuzzy on one edge .Its been a great scope at least 25 years old but time to retire it

Good scope for reasonable price ?

A 3x9x40 is what I have now and I’m happy with that but wouldn’t mind going a little bigger for field of view . I hunt mostly in the woods of the Adirondacks but do get to some more open country but by no means long distance stuff . Thanks for all the replies I will start my research based on...
