I wouldn't want to trust my life to it. But I'd much rather have it than nothing. That being said, if an attacker gets less than 10 feet away, they are probably going to get to you before a few .22 lr rounds stop the attack.
It would annoy me, but probably won't affect accuracy much. Upon firing, the sabot and projectile are going to be changing size/shape a little. Unless you are shooting copper solid projectiles, then the sabot will probably be the only variable
You will be fine. The short barrel loads use powder that is optimized to give the best performance is short barrels (fast burning), but are safe in longer barrels also. They just minimize the velocity loss in short barrels as much as possible
