    S&B brass

After noticing the tight primer pockets on S&B cases, regardless of caliber, I now toss all of the S&B semi-auto brass I come across. I just gave away about 4000 .40S&W cases last night, mostly Win, Fed and Speer. I haven't loaded enough S&B revolver brass to notice a difference yet. I fact...

    When is brass unreloadable?

That looks fine to me. :p Just make sure it's the first one you shoot, otherwise there's probably not enough neck tension to prevent set back. I mean, really, the shell just has to hold the powder in the shell and the bullet at the mouth of the shell. The cylinder contains all the pressure...

well closure for me on my love with the M1 carbine

I started collecting .30 carbine brass several years ago, let friends know I was collecting, bought 500 pulled, factory brass, and am now somewhere around 1,500 or so. But yeah, I don't shoot it enough. Wait! I don't shoot anything enough! Darn job and having to keep food on the table and a...

well closure for me on my love with the M1 carbine

bbqreloader - the CMP did find a bunch, but the previous administration wouldn't let them back in from S. Korea.

Looking for a .357 for concealed carry

Not going to ruin the unanimous aspect of the responses. I would love to have an SP101, and hope to someday. However. I'm going to get an LCR in .357 first, as: A) it's a bit smaller and lighter, which make it more carryable for my particular body; B) it received quite a few decent...

    Good, inexpensive rifles?

He did emphasize "reliable". :D Actually, I know of one store that sells quite a few of them. Haven't heard any negative feedback about their reliability, and for his intended purpose, your are right that they would be both cheap to buy and cheap to feed. With a bit of practice, 100+ yard...

    Good, inexpensive rifles?

If your local gun store has a used rack, keep an eye on it. Frequently, physically beat up guns with low round counts can be had for very few dollars, due to perceived condition. Just be sure to function check and examine the bore first. I picked up a pair of semi-auto .22 in great condition...

Getting pulled over with your CCW

Bottom line, in a non-"must notify" state, it depends. Play it by ear. Always be courteous, in all interactions. I've been pulled over three times since I got my CHL. Oregon is not a "must notify" state. First time: Early evening/late afternoon. Pulled into the left lane on the...

How risky is .5 grain over maximum charge (.45 Colt+Unique)

As stated above, you should be fine. However, you should keep these "hot" loads separate, and not shoot them, or allow any friends to shoot them, from non-Ruger handguns.

    Decapping Military Brass

Interesting idea RC. I would never have thought of that. The only way I could imagine depriming them was some type of pierce and pull maneuver.

    carrying, during a wedding?

I think you are. Legality of carry in churches is up to the individual states and the churches. Some states say you can't carry in a church without express permission. Some say nothing in the law about it.

I don't get it. Neither will you.

Whatever they choose to believe. Teddy and Bobby Kennedy still had armed guards after John was killed. Teddy still had police protection after Bobby was murdered. Neither of them was willing to practice what they, or their family, preached. I've lost a loved one to a gun. It's not the...

    Would this be unsafe?

Wonderful. Mine is a big, old swing-arm fixture with twin 15" bulbs. Ballast lives above the bulbs, I think. Either that, or in the base where it's clamped to the bench. I'll check for variations with and without the light turned on. Oh, and I'm using an RCBS 5-0-5 beam scale by Ohaus.

    M1 Carbine leftie-friendly?

I shot one as a kid left handed, and no problems. My sister shot right handed, but caught one in the forehead. I think she was tipping her head way over. Of course, we weren't very big at the time, so who knows. I have one now, but haven't shot it left handed yet. According to the...

    30-06 spacer

Well, I called and spoke with a rep who's been there 31 years. She confirmed that my dies are from the 60s, but otherwise, had no clue. They don't have any employees still working who have been there 50, or nearly 50, years. She was not aware of them shipping any spacers with die sets other...

    Would this be unsafe?

RC - I have a fluorescent light directly above my reloading bench. Maybe 18". Are you saying that may be screwing up my beam scale?

    30-06 spacer

No dates. The seater die has RCBS stamped vertically on the left side. Starting at about the 6:30/7:00 position, it reads "30-06 SEAT", ending at about the 2 o'clock position. Stamped at 12:00, is the letter "L". The size/deprime die has RCBS in the same place. Starting at about the...

    30-06 spacer

Well that just makes too much sense. :) I'll call them Monday. I could send an e-mail now, but they want my mailing address and phone number and way more information than they need just to answer a simple e-mail. I'll let ya'll know. _____________________ Walkalong - we were posting at the...

    30-06 spacer

Fred, RC and fguffey - I think you are both referring to a solid disk, roughly about the size of a nickel and a little thicker. This is approximately 2" in diameter with a 7/8" - 1" hole in the center, suitable to go between the die and the press. Only about 1/32" or so thick...

    30-06 spacer

I know about the 1/10" spacers with the .38/.357s. There is a legitimate reason for this one, I just don't recall it. I'll call the friend who told me about it and report back. I was trying to not bother him, as I'm trying to not be a pain with my questions.
