Thanks for all the comments. I'll have the rifle thoroughly checked out by a very competent gunsmith friend before shooting it. I do remember the incident was due to improper reloaded ammo.

I got this pistol on Gunbroker or AuctionArms several years ago. The original owner was a banker who bought it soon after manufacture date and it supposedly rested in his safe for most of the time (sure looks like it saw very little use).
